Florida The move to Florida is on!

Yep my pops lives next to the alligator farm on the island,we will end up here too, north enough and next to the ocean it stays a lot cooler than southern Florida, but if you leave your car out it will rust quickly, the salt is in the air and sits on the car when you wake up!
If you live on the ocean, and leave your windows open, the salt will be on you kitchen counter. (meaning it will be on everything in your house).
I knew a man who's fairly new ocean front home had the front door hinges fall apart from the salt, and his front door fell off when he opened his door. Sliding glass doors require roller replacement. I met a man who travels up and down the east coast of the US who does nothing but repair sliding glass doors at condominiums. He calls ahead and when he get to each condo there is a long list of customers waiting on him. Home owners don't get too many years out of their AC unit that sits outside. The list goes on and on. Oh yea.....hurricanes.

I went to the Alligator Farm in St. Augustine when they had Gomek. That was one big SOB.

We lived on the FL coast for a while (Melborne Beach). We lived about two blocks from the beach. My Mom told me that the backs of stoves would rust out because of the salty air.

Gator at my moms house, don’t leave the dog out around the pool area during mating season. you may get unwanted visitors.

Two weeks of misery unpacking boxes and learning we don't have enough room for all the useless shit we accumulated over the past 20 years at our last house lol. My ass is whooped, I should have taken a photo of the pile of trash/cardboard boxes I set out for the trash collector today... it was laughably huge with 15-18 50 gallon bags and probably 25-30 cut up large cardboard boxes. We were shocked to see that the trash guy picked it all up. We'll have an equal load for him next week we haven't gotten to yet. Thank god they are lenient with what they'll pick up here.

I had forgotten just how much moving really sucks. The good news is it turns out the city we moved into, Fleming Island, is absolutely great. We have a symphony of cool animal sounds at the rear of our house at night, I guess most are frogs but lots of ducks quacking and geese honking too. It scared my wife at first, she had never heard anything like it. :ROFLMAO:

In Commiefornia, you're treated like a criminal if you throw something away!

Welcome to Florida.

You'll soon find that there's a thriving recycle and scrap culture here. Don't need something, set it by the curb. Somebody will take it if its needed - or if they can recycle/sell the metal. Otherwise, it'll sit there til trash day and it'll be picked up.

I set my stock rear TJ bumper by the curb on a Saturday afternoon. By Sunday evening, it was gone - which was actually a bit of a long time for here. I had a very rusted out metal base from my generator that I set out a couple of years ago - I didn't even get back into the house before one of the metal recyclers stopped by and picked it up. Thanked me for it too.

Craigslist here is full of "Curb alerts".
