I have painted roll bars!

I removed the padding on my 05 because I liked the look. After awhile I started thinking of safety concerns. Then I pulled them out of storage, found some cloth paint, and went to town. They look good as new.

To those chastising him because of a safety concern think that through. If you hit your head on the pavement hard enough to leave more than a painful bump what injury do you think that helmet will actually prevent?

FIFY. Think slowly if you need to.

FWIW I'm not getting rid of the padding on my bars because I hate getting unnecessary knots on my head. But I'm also not fooling myself into thinking the padding is going to save my life or prevent spending the rest of my days living in a beanbag chair.

so is yours removed or are you removing it?

Do you really believe the padding is equivalent to a carefully engineered helmet? Because a helmet, preferrably one that is DOT approved, is what is required there.

of course not, but they exist in the same universe with the same physics.

That looks like the one Chris was wearing on Rock Pile.
It does, I was glad he put it on. It was a very smart idea.

There’s also one made by Axel

I just want to drag @John Cooper back in here because I don't want the Nancy's to turn their attention on to me. 🤘
Let's just say I have some experience with roll bars collapsing and hard doors bending over into the top of the head. Concussion and compression fractures and taking along time to heal. I choose my path, others may not like it, but it's my path.

A may need to invest into a "REAL" rollcage.

We need to start a Rampage Support Group.

So much hate, so much hate…

🙂
Heavy rain again all day Thursday/Friday and its drier inside with the Rampage than my Hard top!
I would recommend them for those who cant afford a Bestop or run all summer with the windows out as a safari top. They fit really snug unlike some of the other brands I have seen and my sailcloth Rampage bikini survived undamaged by the sun so I should expect the same. The sunrider feature on the Bestop I wouldn't use anyway as the sun here is just way too intense.
So far +2 for the Rampage frameless. :)

To each his own. Hit your head on that unpadded bar and you could turn a fender bender into a fatality.
I’ve been getting into Jeeps for the better part of 35 plus years

Just five minutes ago I got into my TJR and rang my bell on the padded roll bar- If it were not padded , I’d probably be getting coloring books for Christmas for the rest of my life
