I'm looking to purchase a TJ (my first jeep) and I've found one that checks a lot of the boxes. One of my concerns however is it has fairly significant hail damage on the hood. How difficult is it to source a new hood (2004, Black) and how difficult is it to replace?

They sell new hoods online. Most of them ship bare metal so they will have to be painted

Salvage yards are your best bet. Painting a hood cost more than the hood itself. A hood louver and some decals can cover most of it. I put some "Apex edition" stripes on my old 98' to cover hail damage. I'm cheap though. 🤫

Hoods are plentiful, this should not be an issue of concern. Rust and mechanical integrity, however, should be.

Jeep hoods are pretty much a blank slate (ie: Flat) Get some bondo, sand to metal, fill dings sand smooth don't go bondo crazy less is better. Easy-peasey

Leave it alone!
Dents add to the character and enhance "Patina" which is, apparently, vital in a vehicle over 10 years old
