What is the hands down best tool whether pistol gripped pump or 18v Milwaukee is the best, most effective, most pleasant grease gun setup you guys use?
Special tips, everything, details please..?

I have the Milwaukee m18 and it's easy as heck to use.
can set it to different pumps per squeeze say 1 or 3 pumps per squeeze.
I do the whole Jeep pretty quickly. Wish I had more things to use it on haha

I have some junk from an auto parts store. Other than it lacking a quick release, I can't complain about much just servicing my rig and minimal needs on my wife's car. Though if I did more than my own two vehicles every 3k miles I'd be looking towards the Milwaukee setup with a quick release.

I’ve had a cheaper pistol grip style gun for years and it’s been great. Will ooze a little bit, but nothing crazy. Works perfect for how little I use it really.

I have a shelf full of grease guns - tried them all. All the manual ones leak while sitting on that shelf, especially on hot summer days. Even with the rubber grease gun caps that Lock 'n Lube makes, they still make a mess. When I went "all in" on the Milwaukee M18/M12 system, I decided to try their grease gun. It is the best grease gun I've used, and by a long ways. I have the Lock 'n Lube coupling on the end, and together, it's grease gun nirvana. The advantages of the powered grease gun are that it makes purging air easy, it doesn't leak, it doesn't take three hands to hold the coupler on and pump the gun (the Lock 'n Lube helps there, too), and as noted above, it can be set to run for a set volume per trigger pull or continuous until the trigger is released. The cost is not for everyone, but the convenience sure is!

Thanks all, I see there seems to be no big secret when it comes to these. I have the Lube n Lock but haven't used it. Last time i went to grease, I just went with what was already locked and loaded. I'll be on the hunt for a Lincoln, Alemite or Milwaukee. I was just hoping someone had a magical answer that relieved the frustration of getting on/off the zerks..

Lock-n-lube coupler is the way to go, it fits most places.
And get a long whip, most guns come with a hose that is way too short to do anything other than piss me off.
I keep 90 degree, needles, slim couplers, elbows, rubber tipped, flush zerk grease tips all with zerks on them and just lock the accessories into the lock-n-lube.

I think a cordless gun is a waste of money for home use.

The next manual gun I've been thinking about trying is the Lock-n-lube dual rate or whatever they call it. It can switch between high pressure and high volume. But even that would be overkill for home use, unless you had a real need for it.

Thanks man, sounds like I have a couple of Youtube videos to watch, I must be doing something wrong, it always seems like such a PITA.

You might be fighting some clogged or damaged zerks too. Sometimes you need to clean them out or replace the grease fittings. Just something to keep in the back of your mind if you run across a real stubborn one.

Appreciate the tips, it's one of those things I just assumed was easy bc I have done so much other automotive work. When you get stuck on 2 in a row, I really start doubting that I am doing it right..

I have the M12 with a Lock N Lube and a needle end that I use all the time. That little thing has saved me so much time and money in equipment maintenance. Got my dad a Ryobi, because those are the batteries he's got, but I'm not sure how much he uses it or how well it works.

It's one of the most important tools I could suggest for anyone, especially on older equipment that I'm using a lot of grease. If you're going through 5 gal buckets of grease like we do at work it's a different story, but for farm and automotive stuff, it's a must have and it'll pay for itself. I've had to use old manual pumps where I can't get the grease in, just because I'm having to do the pumping myself and can't get the right angle and pressure on the fitting, let alone the amount of effort for greasing equipment and the wear and tear to myself.
