Can I move the vehicle with front upper control arms disconnected?

I’ll spare the details of how I totally screwed myself into this situation but my front upper CA’s are currently disconnected and I need to move the vehicle so that I can properly free the axle and use a ratchet-strap to get the bolts to line up again.

Can I safely “drive” the jeep or am I proper F’d and in need of wheel dollys? I only need to back it up about one and a half car lengths….but there’s a slope to back up (which gives an idea of why I need to move).

My instincts feel like its okay but my “instincts” are what got me into this current mess so I need a sanity check.

Put a ratchet strap on each side to the upper mounts. The springs are trying to tip the axle up at the pinion. Pull back on them a tiny bit. If you can't stop the vehicle with the parking brake, you're in danger of a pretty neat train wreck if you post the pics for us to giggle at.

Yeah, ratchet strap is there but the emabarassment is that I’m parked on a downward slope of my driveway. (I swapped rear on flat ground and had zero issues realigning bolts…gravity’s a funny thing, I know.)

So now Im faced with either jacking up front end while parked in a downward slope or trying to move the jeep to flat ground to safely jack it up. If I had another jeep nearby I’d winch myself out but at this point Im hesitant to move anything.

I need pics

dod the jeep roll a bit on you and cause this?

could you check the fronts and have a few buddies push the jeep forward and then you chock the backs when you get close enough?

If you touch the foot brake, the potential for bad things to happen when the tire stops and the axle keeps rotating is very high. Don't do that.

this could help you rotate the axle back a bit

See my post above would that help you?
Other direction. :(

Ok I reread the OP

what if you chock the uphill side of the fronts and have your buddies push up the driveway to get it close, and the you chock the downhill side of the rears to lock it in?

if you stop the wheels from rotating by blocking the tires, you can push the jeep in whatever direction you need without touching the brakes And effective move the axle around

you will need some manpower though lol

unfortunstely, cant go foward. no garage. no flat surface there. only place for flat ground is jeep length behind. ultimate goal is to jack up the front to free the axle. Dont feel safe doin that on a hill. Dont feel safe moving it. F########.

interesting

looks like you need a ratchet strap around the t case skid plate and the axle control arm mount to pull it back.

once you get the bolt in there one arm is enough to back it up the driveway.
