This is quite depressing I ordered what I would hope is a good brand from rock auto which is a Carter fuel pump assembly for it to be totally dead. 5 gallons of gas in the tank it reads full but does not pup fuel. I start really really digging in researching all these brands and Denso and Bosch seem to be really good but they don't make them anymore. I'm thinking of trying an Autobest from rock auto as I have read more good then bad reviews but even that one many have had problems. I would like to hear yalls opinions on this? I've even thought they're must be someone who has installed some kinda inline after market fuel pump in these TJ's

Thanks
Chris

Delphi seems to be one of the better complete pump assemblies available, my Delphi is in just about 7 years now. As suggested a rebuild is a good option.

Well I still have it but I tossed it outside as its seen rain probably the last few weeks. So let me ask this If I were to buy say another pump module and it craps out could I put a Bosch in the same module? If not then I may just go ahead and clean mine up and take it apart and do what you guys are saying put a Bosch in it. Let me ask another dumb question, The upper part that is a round metal bowl that the fuel line attaches to is that some kinda pressure valve or no it simply just holds the fuel before it goes to the fuel line and then to the engine? Do you all know any kinda YouTube video that talks about how to do this?
Thanks
Chris

Rebuild your old factory one, you can replace the pump itself with a Bosch on Amazon
Bosch 69316 OE Fuel Pump and Strainer Set for Select Jeep Vehicles: 1997-01 Cherokee, 1997-04 Grand Cherokee, 1997-04 TJ, 1997-04 Wrangler https://www.amazon.com/dp/B000BZL922/?tag=wranglerorg-20

Reading your profile what size tires do you have and what’s your gearing? At say 55 and 70 mph what rpm are you turning?
I have 98 Tj 4.0 ax-15 3.07 gears 31” tires that need replacing, picked up a dana 44 from a 06 LJ to rebuild can’t decide if I should go 3.73 or 4.10’s. This is mostly onroad driving very little off-road. To many here back and forth with gears. It’s hard to find anyone happy with their gear ratio reading all these post. From south east Louisiana it’s flatter than flat here. Seems cheaper for lockers to go down to a lower gear ratio like 4.10 instead of 3.73. The 3.73 carrier needed cost more than the 4.10 I suppose that’s a plus. Now since I need new tires I was think of going with 32” bfg all terrains. Will need probably 15x8 rims as my current are shot. Do have a 1 inch body lift and changed all suspension running H&R springs. These tires should fit I believe?

Hello again. I have just 31" tires on a jks 2.5 inch lift. Factory 3.73 gears and run about 1800 rpm at 55 or 60mph. I don't need to go any faster. Avg 15mph.

Thanks I’ll have to go drive mine this weekend and see what I’m at. I assume your rpm is in 5th gear? Dumb question but had to ask haha

I went with a Delphi simply because my module was over 20 years old. I less than 180 days bosch should have they’re fuel pump units out. That was the guy at bosch told me 3 ish months ago
Are you saying he said that Bosch will have our fuel pump assemblies back in stock, not just the fuel pumps?

Yes I called bosch as I was desperate and the guy said it would be 180 days till tbe fuel pump assemblies make it to their warehouse and then bit longer to distributors but that was around 3 months ago I called. He said the fuel pump assemblies were NOT discontinued. I asked if it was usa made and he said all the parts are made all over the world. I was so pissed with Carter junk and another person said he had good luck with Delphi. If it last till Bosch comes in I’ll be happy. My fuel assembly was just to old I felt to replace just the pump.
