I have a 2006 X Wrangler 2 door with a saddle colored quadratec sailcloth top with factory hardware. I am wondering if there are rear side and back windows in mesh to replace them?

I think you would need some kind of cargo netting.

New one on me- suppose they could be made from some old windows - cut out the body, etc-

Spiderweb mesh would be stronger, itd dump trailer tarp material.

Pretty sure smittybilt makes a bikini/cargo net. I've never seen mesh windows that you can attach though.

There's a few other mesh solutions. They're for Jeeps that have their tops removed though.

That's a pretty cool idea... and an easy DIY with some trashed windows. Cut out the plastic and use silicone seam seal to glue in the mesh on the inside of the window. Trim away the excess once it cures and you're good to go. HD mesh like that used by SpiderWeb for the sun shade is about $15 a yard. Might be able to get away with two (likely three) yards.

Why not just sew it in place?

Most men don’t have a sewing machine or want to sew. I make most of my own backpacking gear so sewing is something I do often. Bonding the mesh to the window would be while lot easier.

There are shops that specialize in this, and most men would want the finished result to look better than if their kids did it, but you go ahead and do it your way if you like.

You're being narrow minded, with all due respect.

I've been working with high buck Dyneema Composite Fabric for years. I make custom DCF Ultra Lite backpacking tarps and hammocks. The hammocks can be ordered with integrated or removable bug net using a lighter version of what one would use to the replacement windows the OP is asking about. The netting is bonded to the zipper tape. None look like a kid made them. You go ahead and pay the specialized shop to do it. I am the specialized shop you might be paying. I would do it myself.

No disrespect meant but....

I'm STILL trying to figger out why someone would want to do this. Either keep the windows in, or zip 'em out and have FULL airflow. Are you gonna have mesh windows where your full or half doors are too? Talk about a solution to a problem that doesn't exist...

I'm with you on this. Just take them out. Only reason I can think of is the OP might want the option for an open air feel without having to stow the windows. I'd just leave them home or roll them up and stuff them. It's an easy mod to do, but not every mod needs to be done just because you can..

I like the concept, especially for those LJ guys who somehow rigged up sleeping in their rigs. It would help keep bugs and critters at bay.

A double zipper option would be really cool. Mesh bonded to a zipper you can remove from the inside and still be able to put your windows on the outside.

I personally would like something like this for my dog. I feel it will provide more security than a cargo net. For me it would work out great. When it’s hot in the day bring out the mesh windows at night bring out regular windows. No need to take off/on the cargo net and soft top but I suppose you can always run a cargo net under the soft top.

I've used the bestop ones for years for my dogs. Got them from Collins Brothers on ebay. I first tried having screen material sewn into an old set of windows but the material didn't last long. The bestop ones are pretty tough material i've had my current set for close to 10 years and just ordered a spare set as Collins bros are getting low in stock. The dogs love them, I can run into stores and not worry about someone trying to pet or worse feed them junk while i'm not there then running to the courts when they have only 9 fingers left. Well worth the $. Hope this helps.

It's to keep bugs out
