Toyota lights on your TJ! Cheap, quality LED alternative

I have just ordered a set of these for pick up at my local toyota dealer. Never thought I'd be picking up parts there for my only non toyota vehicle XD.

Paid $45.48 out the door with pickup selected.

Ill be sure to post some more high quality photos here regarding them when I get them installed.

Thanks to everyone who has posted about these, and @ArmyRN for bumping this thread today!

You're welcome. I believe these are what I'm running on my TJ right now:

(They do offer a 6-volt H4 bulb for those running older vehicles.)

But they didn't include the bulbs or a wiring harness (I added a harness later to run brighter bulbs). So if these Toyota lights work out for my Willys (already converted to 12V), it is definitely the bargain of the year.

At the price of these toyota lights, 6 volt guys can buy two replacement 6v H4 bulbs and it will still be a screaming deal. Just toss the 12v H4s in the junk drawer for later :)

The 6 volt sealed beams are physically the same size as the more modern 12 volt bulbs, so they should fit.
Yeah... I've got 12V sealed-beam halogen lights in there now (from I don't know how many years ago!). Never had any reason to complain about'm (I really don't drive it much, and even less at night). But this Toyota light upgrade looks like a good idea, especially if it comes with a harness to allow a brighter than stock bulb. I'm not running any auxiliary lights on the Willys (pictured below with Mrs. ArmyRN), so the headlights are all it gets at night.

Bonus points if you know or can remember where this picture was also posted.

Picked mine up at the Toyota dealer today. $45 out the door (included a military discount, and a discount because they had a hiccup getting it to the dealership). Looks to be a very nice set-up; can't wait to put it in the Willys.

So where was the previously mentioned picture posted? In JP magazine - March 2017 (almost five years ago). I really miss that magazine. I think I've got saved every issue they put out.

My ass is still smarting from the purchase of the latest J.W. Speaker 8800's, which aren't as bright as the Truck-Lites they replaced (but a more refined pattern).

This OE Toyota kit looks like a steal! Bosch and Hella have been selling H4 conversions for the last 35 years but even a single replacement housing is way more that these kits. I would have bought one.

And pick up a T15 narrow shaft screw driver to pack around in your Jeep. I like to fine-tune the adjustments until it's just right. Don't even think of installing different lights and skipping the adjustment.

If nobody has tweaked the adjustment screws in years, consider removing the entire assembly. Remove retainer rings and the old sealed-beams. Remove the rings that the adjustment screws bed into. Soak them in hot water 15 minutes or so to soften before attempting to remove the adj screws. Work them back and forth a wee bit and remove. Nothing ruins your day like stripping the screw splines or snapping the screws off. Coat the screws with silicone dielectric grease and re-install. Use that same grease on the connectors you are going to plug into the H4 bulbs.

Has anyone considered applying a protection film to the glass housing (like X-Pel or Lamin-X).

Had it on my IPFs and a few other vehicles and it's good piece of mind. I have a sheet left over from prior projects and am going to cut it for the headlights and driving lights. Hopefully prevent chips and cracks.

I installed the Laminate-X film one the Koito lenses just to safe. Took five minutes to install.

I have the full Toyo H4 kit and currently run the 100/80 Hella H4 bulbs.

Came across 130/90 Hella H4's and am curious whether the upgraded harness is ample for these higher wattage bulbs?

Has anyone tried the Hella 130/90?
