Did the TJ ones crack? I remember that being a fairly confined period of time and on the JK wheels (because they had already discontinued the TJ version)Shame these things crack... I would LOVE for AEV to make a modern version in 5x4.5"!

I wanted these at one point. When I went to look a set, two of the wheels had stress fractures at the base of the spokes. That was enough to stop my "want".Did the TJ ones crack? I bought a used set that had been pretty beat, and I haven't been kind to mine and they are holding up well. I have NO idea on the manufacture date, but they are JK wheels, FWIW. I'm happy with mine and am going to start investigating Coyotes.I wanted these at one point. When I went to look a set, two of the wheels had stress fractures at the base of the spokes. The distinction is them putting AEV on the spoke now.Rule of thumb on AEV wheels is anything with the yellow center cap has problems. When AEV redesigned, they went to silver center caps, making the distinction easy...

Yup, that's another way. The embossing on the center cap is another way.
That said, the yellow center cap is much easier to spot and a good reminder to be weary ("yellow" = caution/slow). The yellow center caps are 55mm where as the later/redesigned caps are 62.5mm, so they do not readily interchange.

Ah,you've got a good point. I see that AEV sells large bore, yellow center caps. I was previously told (erroneously perhaps) that the problematic Pintlers (on both the TJ and JK) all came with factory yellow center caps and that the redesigned ("Gen 2") JK wheels came from AEV with grey center caps. Looks like AEV sells yellow "large bore" replacement caps for the Gen 2 wheels and also embossed grey replacement caps for the Gen 1 wheels, so center cap color isn't as reliable as an indicator as I was led to believe (perhaps at one time it was).Yellow Centercaps came on tj, jk, and now JL Pintlers. You can put yellow centercaps on every AEV wheel ever made
