What did you do to your TJ today?

Wow, now I feel pathetic…I wasted time and money just adding some Noico insulation to the front and half doors…super easy and something to kill time, and while doesn’t sound as dingy when knocking on panels, and maybe a bit less rattle when driving…think that may be more of wishful thinking than actual true real world noise reduction on a soft top with half doors! If I wasn’t so lazy I would have recorded some before and after driving noise and analyzed it…

Next up - double din radio which will likely be rattled to death off road, a 24 gallon gas tank, which was likely a waste of money but makes me happy I will be able to go over 300 miles between fill ups on road trips.

I have a summer off to fill, any other ideas from anyone?

Thanks!

Which double din are you going with? I've been looking at those and some flip-up screen single dins. I'm tired of the CD player faceplate popping off when I hit bumps.

Going off brand, atoto F7 XE, seemed rather well liked on Amazon, had a front camera input (which eventually hope to use to put in a full 360 view feed)

Got this little round red led light in today. Fit right were the center cap is on the spare tire and will act as the third brake light. It has a smoke lens like all the lights I am installing. Has 9 led's and will fit flush on the spare tire holder after I drill the hole. Will be a nice clean look with the two 4" round led tail lights I have coming.

Where’d you get it? I have extended by hacking my stock third light…so something nicer would be good!

Gotta link?

Yep, think I will have to go there! Looks awesome and close enough to DC. Plan to also go up towards Maine and maybe south to NC.
If you come down to Windrock, let me know and I’ll try and coordinate to come up. It’s only about 4 hours away. AOP(adventure off-road park) is another really cool spot in Eastern Tennessee. I’ll be in Windrock the last weekend in June.

Awesome, will do. Have a few trips planned but have some weekends in July/Aug/Sep available. Will PM you and work something out. End of Jun taking son (7 yr old) to USFL playoffs, just got big into football this year.

Well picked up my jeep today with the Rockhard front bumper, winch, and rear bumper with tire carrier installed. I cheated. Then went about installing a BlueOx Acclaim front tow bar and the spare tire. Must have been Monday when BlueOx put the towbar together, stow bolt was on the wrong arm. A few youtube videos to confirm and 3 minutes with wrenches-it was put together as intended. The RockHard tire carrier is another matter. It simply was not designed for tires as small as mine. Using the lowest mounting holes, my tire is still almost 6" above the bumper. I can lower it, but that will involve drilling some fairly large holes through the carrier assembly. Closest I could mount my tire to the carrier, still about 2" of gap. I could fix that with a chop saw (the holes are at least drilled). Will put off the chop saw work till I see how large the gap is after I drill additional holes to lower the whole assembly. How many cents would it have cost them to drill/punch a few more adjustment holes - really... At the lowest setting I bet a 40" tire would still fit.

In all fairness, I know what they were thinking - if you mount the tire lower, were will you bolt on your hi-lift jack? You know the thing that is at best buried in the recesses of your garage. Honestly, it would still fit behind the tire (the tire is that far from the carrier), but you would have to remove the tire to get to it.

In the flip side, it will give me room to put a steel crossbar to mount a ladder to get to my roof. But I don't think it was designed to be a ladder mount.

Ha yes! My hi-lift has been in the back of the garage for years! But feel need to find a good place to remount it!

ok, I gota ask, why all the hate for high lift jacks? I have used mine to help a Toyota put his axle back in place on the trail, pulled some overgrown Juniper bushes out from around the house, even built an attachment to bump up to a tire and hook chain into. You have to be careful with them, but they give some great leverage.
