Should I spend $150 and buy two replacement ends? Part number is 25986 and look readily available.

It's cast aluminum...TIG weld and drill and tap new holes?

JB weld the cross bar back on. It seems to provide compression and expansion prevention.

Or forget about it...

Leaning towards TIG.

That and a not a tow point sticker.

What do you need to weld the drum supports to? What's wrong with the winch?

I ripped out the cross bar...tie bar according to Warn.

Hmm pictures didn't attach...

Oh! Got it. I think you just need new drum supports and a crossbar if it was damaged. Take apart carefully, making sure you remember how everything goes back together. I was able to rebuild a Warn XD9000i with the help of @Blackjack. He may have some good advice.

Yup...just thinking a couple of minutes with a TIG welder would save me $150+ dollars.

That and the time to completely tear down the winch.

There's a good lesson here for the class, please do tell the story. There will be no judgement from me but I can't vouch for anybody else.
On the road to Bohemia Mine out of CG. Still covered in snow. Ran across a couple in a ATV. No helmets. They decided to follow us through the drifts. They got stuck. I was wet and tired...was going to use my winch to pull em but he wanted to use his...his hook wouldn't fit on anything on my bumper. All my recovery shackles we're buried deep under camping gear. My soft shackle wouldn't fit through...figured light ATV...quick pull...

Broke in less than 3 seconds.

I have it on video.

No judgment here. None at all.
None here either - shit happens and its how we all learn. We've all done it...

Check with http://www.winchserviceparts.com for your parts if you haven't already. They were by far the cheapest source of parts I was able to find when I rebuilt mine. Their website is having SQL issues, you'll probably have to call them...

I'm judging this a good bit, but I think it's great you shared it for others to see. There's likely various decisions I've made that if people saw they would also judge. Live and learn, it helps to also share that experience.
I gotta admit I’ve been laughing out loud about this and all my kids coming over to watch. No judgment though! I’ve done dumb stuff.

Like the time I stopped in a trail to cut down a tree. As it fell it hit some branches and rolled right into my Jeep hood just over the driver headlight and dented it. 🤣 Dumb, dumb, dumb, dumb

All back together again...and, bonus, it free spools a lot better...used to be rope over shoulder and full leg press to get the rope moving...

Big shout out to Scott at Montana Jacks. I put in an order for the parts...he called me 15 minutes later and helped me correct a mistake...25986 is one drum support...I tried ordering two...turns out there is an unlisted ends in A part for the other side.

Parts arrived quick...and Scott answered the phone and helped me get my free spool lever back in the winch...there is a gear inside the end and the lever has a pawl the pushes the gear up and down the winch...gear was stuck...put a punch on the lip inside the hole and tapped down on the shaft of the punch to free the gear...now it slides easy and the winch free spools.

Might make a repair video... didn't see much on YouTube about this particular problem...
