I’m looking for a winch guard that mounts under the recovery hooks on a stock tj bumper… I found 2 that I like, 1 at UCF but they don’t make them any more and the other from Savvy, BMP-WG, but I can’t get them to answer emails or the phone to confirm they still have the product and that it will fit… anybody seen another like these… Todd

I like mine, but for the life of me I can't remember where I got it.
One problem; I can't mount the bar (under the hooks) when the winch plate is on.
There are clearance issues with the bracing.

talk to someone at Savvy and he confirmed that the BMP-WG would fit the 97 TJ stock bumper

Doesn't this mean the Savvy Winch Guard will work with any stock bumper? I am currently working on removing the huge bumper my jeep came with and replacing it with an OEM one i found on FB Market. My Jeep is a 2006 and idk what the bumper came off of. That Savvy bar looks pretty slick, think it'll
fit?

Depends on what winch plate you use unless you go winch free winch guard. You can make anything work if you put some time into it but that guard has a flat mount that spans not only the bumper bolts but goes back to the front sway bar mounting bolts. You might have to remove or trim the sway bar cover if you have one and use washers or shims on the rear sway bar mounts if they aren't level with the bumper.

Paul is right. I kept the stock sway bar, so I had to cut a piece of aluminum (I think it was 3/16" thick to match the base of the Savvy mounting plate) and put one hole in it so that is mounted using the rear sway bar bracket bolt and ran up against the rear of the Savvy mounting plate. Washers alone didn't work because the rubber bushing for the sway bar mount wasn't supported. It needs a flat surface under it.

Savvy fit perfect.. Cut the OEM bumper, filled the holes and painted…capped the the ends and bolted down the winch guard today! I mounted using the 2 Oem bumper bolts and the first sway bar bolt.. I created a shim to put between the winch plate and the sway bar bracket and then mounted the winch guard to the winch plate…

Same with deal with the Warn and Warn/Mopar. I think any raised plate is out if it isn't one of those simple folded deals.

Assuming the winch plates are raised because of the swaybar and/or winch mounting bolts.
I already have an Antirock, so I was wondering if there is a different (flat) style of plate that still works with the stock bumper?

Don't all the genetic two fold flat Hazzard Fraught plates work?

This is the one I used… winch bolts are in front of and behind the Oem bumper so no interference… bolts on by the 2 bumper bolts and the front sway bar bolt… if you don’t have the bumper pads the savvy winch guard will hang over the front of the Oem bumper about an inch but with the pads it’s not noticeable…

I took the harbor freight plate off because it hangs over the front of the bumper and has a 1” lip it’s full length and stopped at the sway bar bracket with a 2” lip… you also can’t use the square recovery hooks with the savvy…you have to use the straight recovery hooks..

That's the problem with most of the flat plates.
They're designed to mount in front of the oem swaybar (which I don't have) and stick out in front of the bumper.
I'm looking for one that mounts the winch farther back like a raised plate does.

Might have to drill my own holes in a blank one.

Just a quick question regarding the Savvy winch guard. Does this unit ship painted black? I've placed an order and have leftover primer but I may need to get some paint. Thanks in advance!
