I'd like to buy a clue, Alex...

I just received my second PowerTrax no-slip from "Warrior Women", and like the first one, the parts appear to be wrong (For Dana 30). According to the manual, there's supposed to be 1 set of unslotted parts, and 1 set of slotted parts - I have 2 sets of unslotted parts. The slots are supposed to be there to permit installation of the 2nd C-clip according to the installation guide. As I have yet to actually do this type of job, that seems to be reasonable to me but the unfamiliarity has me flummoxed. So what the whisky-foxtrot is going on here?

I installed a powertrax no-slip in my 04 dana 30 and can confirm that the kit should not have any c-clips.

You should have ordered or received part #9204302700.

I've attached the correct PDF installation instructions for you to look over.

Now it becomes completely clear! Your instructions, bears a number of 8221003A. What I received were instructions 8221002A. Coupled with my unfamiliarity of the whole job, the result was mass confusion! I had no idea if the D-30 has c-clips or not!

THANK YOU for the correct instructions! I'd blame the whole mess on the ongoing Mercury Retrograde except it looks like this has been going on at PowerTrax for some time if what I received over a month ago is any indication.

And yes - it does say #9204302700 "Dana 30 27 Spline" right on the box.

I think I need to swing by their website and at least tell them about it. Some "circle-C" is packing the wrong directions...

It was extremely easy and straightforward. Just breath and don't let the Boogieman tell you that it's a waste of time 🤣
Its probably going to be next year before I get to it. At least, its gonna be awhile as I have several other things to install ahead of it, and its now the hot season here in Fla so work on the Jeep slows way down...

I ordered it now as I didn't want to pay more for it later, and/or have it not be available. This gives me the opportunity to watch some YT videos.

The factory service manual recommends to never reuse ring gear bolts. I don’t know If they are torque to yield bolts or not, but I just went with the manual.

IF I were to reuse, at a minimum I’d make sure the threads in the case and bolts were clean, dry, not damaged and red loctite them.

I got my set from Dennys Driveshafts.

Reviewing the installation instructions, apparently you don't even need to remove the carrier or the ring gear in the first place... Am I missing something?

I just put in my second one after the first fractured. I pulled it all apart to inspect so I didnt have the ring gear on, but im fairly certain that the ring gear needs to be removed to get the cross pin out or at least slid over of not pulling the carrier. Other than thats its an easy install. Just make sure that it releases easily when testing it by hand. The first one I put in was a bear to disengage and would load the axle, especially in reverse. No shock I found chunks when changing the fluid. The second is night and day, almost imperceptible and releases effortlessly. oh yeah, my instructions mentioned the c clips as well, so ignore that part. good luck

There are some differentials where the carrier is wide enough that the ring gear does not obstruct removal of the cross pin. The Dana 30 is not one of those.

I'm running into an issue where the no-slip fits into my Dana 30 carrier, but doesn't spin enough to get the springs in. The driver's are slightly wider than the couplers and bump the carrier. I've read that a few people had this issue and used a Dremel to grind a mm or so from the cup rim where the spider gears would sit. If I slightly lift it to center in the carrier I can spin it but the gap between drivers is off because it's so tight, especially once I put the roll pin in. Looks wonky to me. Maybe shaving those areas will give it enough space to open and close properly. I have pics if anyone can help.

Have you reached out to powertrax? Mine is currently sitting in the box in my garage so I have no experience with installation.
