The below are just a few personal thoughts about this upcoming Memorial Day.

Memorial Day 2.JPG

Armed Forces Day is to celebrate those still in uniform.

Veterans Day is to celebrate those who served but are no longer in uniform.

Memorial Day is to remember those who never came home. It is not a day of celebration, it is a day for remembrance. It is time to remember with love those who served but never came home. So let us please not wish each other a "Happy Memorial Day", there's nothing happy about it.

I wish you wonderful loving memories for those in your lives who never came home.

I have been in the below man's place at the Vietnam Veterans Memorial in Washington DC. I was sobbing so hard I was shaking and more than a little embarrassed to have been like that in full view of many around me. I want to go back but I'm almost afraid to experience that again.

Posting this once again seriously chokes me up and brings tears to my eyes. I hope it does to you too.

Thanks @Jerry Bransford. I remember a similar post you made in the past and I'm always grateful for the reminder of the purpose of the three days. I pass this on to my family and others.

I have buried several soldiers. I know those families hurt. It makes me hurt.

I am DC today 🇺🇸, it is amazing how many memorials there are here. You can't help but tear up seeing the Viet Nam Wall, and Arlington Cemetery. If you don't get a tear then my friend you are not a true American. All of these somber places represent the life of a REAL PERSON and someone that gave their life for YOUR FREEDOM.

It also saddens me how far from center we have let this county become. We need to stand up to those who want to tear it down, and say ( fuck you ) enough already. I for one am tired of this PC shit and gender bullshit, or what you want to be called.

I can say God Bless America, if that offends you then move to another country and leave this blessed place

This was for the soldiers we lost during my deployment to Iraq 2004-2005 and is at Camp Murray, WA

“Our flag does not fly because the wind moves it. It flies with the last breath of each soldier who died protecting it.” Unknown.

Thanks for this reminder, and your insight.

America's current leadership has nothing to do with the fact that we are not suffering the same fate as Ukraine; there but for the grace of God.
