Rescue6's 1999 Jeep Wrangler Sport

well, i hate it for ya.
i know the pain and the aggravation of being held back by it. i can sympathize with the lack of a decent nights rest and the inability to be comfortable.
i've avoided the knife, they couldn't do knees back then, no way i was lettin them near my back. TBH the chiropractor did the most for me as far as pain management, never took any meds even when i couldn't move. going from 235# to 190# helped a lot, now i don't have daily pain unless i overwork it,

again it's no race work your pace, there are a few of us here chompin at the bit to be finished up and able to wheel, but rushing through and not being thorough or hurtin yourself to get there isn't the right way to ensure you can enjoy it once you do get there..

what do you run for seats? i chose Corbeau's. i was warned about the tall bolsters and tight fit, but TBH it's a great choice for me and keeps me very tight and stable...........something my back will thank me for after a long day of not rocking down the trails.

Trying to stay positive and motivated to do my best work on this damn Jeep of mine. I’ve been working so hard on it for the last eight weeks. I most certainly couldn’t have done it without the help of my best friend over the first four weeks and occasionally since. Not to mention and the use of his garage. However my body doesn’t work like it used too and I can’t do things like I used too or want to anymore. My back is over it. My pain levels have increased and my sleep is pretty non existent because of the pain. So then my frustration goes up and my motivation to keep doing things to the best of my abilities is going downhill quickly. It doesn’t help that the last few tasks on my list have given me nothing but problem after problem. I’m exhausted, burnt out, overwhelmed, hurting and frustrated all at once. I just need a little luck and blessings from above to get this thing completed. That and a little sleep and pain relief would be great I’m sick of this whole better living through Chemistry thing if you know what I mean.
Sorry for the constant complaining I just needed to vent my frustration after laying here all night starring into the darkness. As the Dunkin’ Donuts commercial says “time to make the donuts” or rather work on the damn Jeep again
Clearly I have some bias but I recommend finding a good chiropractor.

Thanks man. Im just being a little bitch at this point my wife says. I’m running on like 8-9 hours sleep over the last 72 hours. I know it’s not a race to get done but I’ve created a bit of a time crunch. It was supposed to be done a week ago. I had to take a few days off from it to allow my back so much needed rest. But it’s gotta be done no later than Monday. I am supposed to leave for Moab next Friday. It will get there. It’s just fighting me tooth and nail. At this point. I’m aligning the axles and steering today. Hopefully. About to start.
I’m running PRP enduro elite seats. They have helped a lot to hold me in place and take away some of the jarring bumps.

Oof? Few fusion surgeries?
Yep and a screw that went in at the wrong angle and broke into the foramen and through a nerve root shredding the nerve root for two years while I pleaded with the Dr. That something was not right. I couldn’t sit or squat down without being in tears. Now that it was removed I’m left with permanent pain, numbness and loss of function to my left leg and foot. Good times.

Damn good progress made today. I had to compromise temporarily though. One of my rear lower links th ends are frozen in. I drillta smal hole and probably emptied a half can of PB blaster into it. Let it sit over night switching what end had the pool of fluid. Then used a torch and a 4’ cheater bar and could only move one side about 3/4 turn. I said screw it and ordered 4 new Johnny joints and two 36” pieces of 2”x .250 DOM and will make new lowers so I can get my rear axle perfectly how I want it. But I was able to drive it home. And around this evening. Still gotta get the head unit back in it. Wire up the license plate light and 3rd brake light, put the bolts in for the APillers of the rollbar back through the floor and sliders, make a couple small plates to bolt the final bolts in the sliders and then detail it and she is ready to go to Moab next week. Took me 11 hours today but my attitude got better once I got moving and distracted from the pain.

Few teasers.

I hate these doctors that won't listen or act when you are telling them something is wrong. I have a nerve stimulator in my back also and it helps a little but not as much as I'd hoped. Getting old isn't for the weak or timid that is for sure.

Dang you really made some headway.

this is where i am also...i'll be standing or walkin and it'll just go dead. it gives out, i fall down and have no feeling at all like there is no leg there. it'll come back in a few minutes, but until then i don't have a left leg.
was a sad day for me when i had to go buy a cane to keep close by..

can you feel it startin? does it give you any warning? sometimes i get a feelin and know it's comin, sometimes not.

Sounds familiar. I’ve had that happen so many times. My lower leg is always tingling and my foot feels like I’m stepping on a knife with ever step but yeah it will just buckle on me out of nowhere. Hate to hear you deal with it too.

my left arm can get like that.............. pins and needles all day, constantly like it's asleep. feels like someone's got a knife in your shoulder and they are just twisting it.
most people will never understand what it feels like to have a nerve pinched........never understand it's effects or the pain it causes and how it can not be relieved even with the hardest drugs.

i hope the best for you..........but take your time and get yourself right, as right as you can be anyways.

Well I just made it to Moab. Time to break in the new suspension. I’ll post some pictures tomorrow when the top comes off and the half doors go on it as well. But here it is. And Yes for all the high lift haters. Me included usually. I brought a high lift with me. It’s been in the corner of the shed for the last ten years. But I’m headed to some still snow covered trails when I leave Moab that have reports of downed trees all over this year. So I have a chainsaw as well and it’s to move the trees.

Well I had hoped to get a bunch of sexy flex shots of the work I did to my Jeep. However God had other plans for me. Like maybe a lesson in humility. Fortunately nobody was injured and honestly the Jeep came away fairly unscathed. But I lasted right at one mile of trail use before I screwed it up. First trail, first mile “ Moab Rim” after it was righted and I pulled the spark plugs and proceeded to blow the oil out of the rear cylinders all over the underside of the hood and onto the windshield. It started up and smoked like a freight train a few minutes we continued up to the overlook then turned around and went down. Took it to Arches National park. It will need a new passenger door but the rest is sorta ok.

Man I hate that for you, but I’m glad the damage was minimal and there were no injuries. But now that you’ve gotten the first one out of the way you’re good from here on out.

That’s actually the second flop for me. But this one was on all new armor etc. so that sucks Big time. It didn’t even get to look nice for a week. It’s my own damn fault. Taking an untested new suspension set up out on a difficult trail. I changed the front upper link position this morning and it is way more stable and not trying to lift the front end anymore.
