Probably a good call, for every half decent idea I come up with there's about 100 terrible ones before it lol
I vote miata and just remove or cut the trunk lid! The fuel cell is already behind the seats so it would save you some time.

This 1960 Hillman by the Coventry Motor Fittings, Co. was also in the junk yard. I wish I could have another stupid project vehicle.
My auto shop teacher in high school had one with a small block Chevy motor, a Powerglide, and a narrowed 9” rear as his daily driver

Ouch. The Miata is a beautiful car to drive and that is painful to see. Similar to some of those unfortunate Jeep of the day posts.

That last photo is pretty epic .. that size difference from that angle is kinda hilarious.
It pains me to admit this, but a Honda Fit with a manual transmission is really fun to drive. Handles great, might even smoke a Miata
Plus it has a ton of cargo space, I fit a standard size clothes dryer in mine. I get 32 miles per gallon city and drive it pretty hard.

According to JH Diesel the Prius is pretty sweet ride and decent tow pig. I think he even did some mild off road testing too.
