Hey everyone,

Looking to get some insight on a particular Soft-Top for a 2006 Jeep Wrangler Unlimited. My OEM is pretty much on its last few stitches on the seems, and a recent hail storm really beat her up. Luckily the LJ itself is still good to go. So I am in the market for a new Soft-Top for my LJ, and want something nice and good quality. I came a cross on Quadratec a Mastertop MasterTwill fabric Slant back soft top, and have some questions if anyone can help? Links to the websites I saw these on below:

Quadratec Link:
https://www.quadratec.com/p/mastert...j/msp-fastback-replacement-top-lj-mastertwill

MasterTop Link (Towards the Top):
http://www.mastertop.com/products/new-products/

1) Is this a good quality product or would I just be throwing my money away? Like is it durable and does the fabric actually help with noise reduction?
2) Does anyone know if it comes in the OEM square back type, or if anyone makes Twill OEM square back soft tops?
3) Outside of LJ Twill Soft tops, does anyone know who makes GREAT OEM square back soft tops for LJs? Can be other materials than Twill, but whats good?

Thank you everyone!

I had a MasterTop MasterTwill on my LJ last year. It looked real nice and fit well, but was noisy as hell. I actually went through three exchanges with QT before throwing in the towel and exchanging it for a Trektop NX.
The Trektop NX did not fit as nice and I wasn't a fan of the black diamond material. I sold the top a few weeks ago.
I Just installed a new MasterTwill top on my jeep yesterday. Yes, I am glutton for punishment.

Wow, seems like either quality or design issues?

Curious what are your thoughts of quality between BESTOP and MASTERTOP?

I am really curious, do you sacrifice a lot of cargo space in the back? Looking at it, it appears it would. I still want to take it out on camping trips.

If you’re not aware, Bestop does sell just the sailcloth. If everything else is still good, that’s your best option. Prices may have risen but the sailcloth was $395 a couple months ago. You’ll need to call them to order it.

Bestop makes all of Jeeps Soft top. Bestop is OEM. I wouldn’t choose another brand. Great service and warranty. You can just buy their replace a top since you already have the frame.

I was out driving around today. The top is relatively quiet. I would say that was on par with the trektop I previously had.

Really curious for the folks advocating BESTOP. What is the Sailcloth like compared to the OEM material? How is the noise when driving? How durable? How hard is it to work with (Does it need to be warmed prior to moving)? Insight helps me out immensely.

It's a soft top... it is gonna be noisy.

In my experience... the best way to mitigate the noise, is to ensure the front and center (bow) parts are tightly fitted, centered, and taut.

Still gonna be noisy tho when compared to anything else. Hell... sometimes having the top off can be quieter.

He has originally factory frame so he won’t have Bestop updated center bow.

Sailcloth is OEM material. Bestop makes all of jeeps soft tops therefore it’s OEM.
All of TJ/LJ came with a sailcloth soft top after year 2000.
Bestop has lifetime warranty if it ever rips they would replace it no question asked. Same goes for windows.
It will have to get warm and that’s a good thing. I would want a tight fit and not loose fit.

Center bow may be an incorrect term.
I have OEM frames and the noise is somewhat lessened if the top is taut on the center crossbar.

Bestop hands down.

I used to think that way until I got my Sierra Offroad "Trilogy" top for $500 cheaper and a better warranty. Only time will tell.
p.s. No flapping even at 75 mph.

I bought a replacement top for my TJ. Went for the Bestop Twill. It was tough to fit initially, but it is much warmer where you are so that will likely make it easier for you. Seems a very high quality material and is definitely quieter than the old OEM one was. But that may be because the OEM one was a bit tatty than in places. Overall I am very happy with it. Now it has been on a while I don’t even notice the logo any more - not that is an excuse for them slapping it on.

If you are struggling with the cost let me know and I will tell you what I had to pay including shipping and import duty to the UK, that may make you feel better 😂
