Are Full Hard Doors Directly Interchangeable with Half Doors?

I currently have half doors, and I’m looking into getting full hard-doors (they’re just so much more quiet, and I never run just my half doors).

Are the full-doors plug-and-play, or do I have to do any mods to the current half-door setup to make the fill-doors fit correctly?
 
My TJ was built with metal half doors and a previous owner had put metal full doors on it. When I switched them this spring, it was not a problem, and I had to switch the hinges, too... I am going to buy new hinges for the full doors when I go back to the metal full doors this fall....Then it will really be plug and play....

Why did you have to switch hinges?

I’ve been checking eBay, and the TJ full doors on there range from $800-$1500 per pair, and I’d still have to paint them.

I’m hoping I can find some at a pick-n-pull lot for less than that. Seems high to me, but I guess they’re a hot commodity.
 
You may have to adjust the hinges on the new doors to get everything to line up. Sometimes they just go on and others not. The factory did not paint under the hinges so if you're lucky enough to find the right color you may still need paint after moving the hinge around.
You'll also need to re-pin the lock cylinders to match your keys.

Exactly, and make sure to only move the hinge-half part that is on the new door itself. Don't move the hinge-half around on the tub, that'll just screw it up for the other doors.

You can bank on them being 800-1000 minimum Unless you stumble across somebody that doesn’t know what they have or doesn’t care

I just undo the two nuts form the pins and lift, install the other doors and reinstall the two nuts. I change back and forth a couple times each year depending on the weather. I do the same with tops, Bikini, full soft top and hard top

I also use these Mcgard locks each time, since these doors are so easy to steel, this is cheap insurance

They keep me from stealing my own doors

I've been shopping for a while and can attest to this.

I ended up paying $500 for mine, but they're missing a bunch of parts, one has a ding in it and the other has a crack I'm going to have to tack closed and grind smooth.

Nothing cost me more than trying to save money-

I’ve done it a lot of times in my life- Get a deal on something and by the time I round everything up and get myself happy I could have gone first class and saved 20%

At the same time right now it’s getting to the point where we all need to be latching on to what we want at any price for these things- These are basically an extinct species.

I have seen a marked change in both used vehicle inventory and good factory used parts availability in the last 3 years.

I live in Kansas City, we actually just went to Kentucky for a week (horses and whiskey, etc.). If you wanna drive, I'll swap my full white doors for your red 1/2 doors. I've only used 1/2 doors and these doors are just sitting in my basement now..

Yes on the TJ/LJ. On my JL there are twice as many doors, each has a hard limiter that has to be disconnected, wiring harness, and wiring harness cover. Still worth it to put the half doors on.
 
Our TJ has not had the doors on at all since mid-April… just put them in the garage, and cover the Jeep with a rain-gear type cover if it looks like it’ll rain…
