Are Full Hard Doors Directly Interchangeable with Half Doors?

I live in Kansas City, we actually just went to Kentucky for a week (horses and whiskey, etc.). If you wanna drive, I'll swap my full white doors for your red 1/2 doors. I've only used 1/2 doors and these doors are just sitting in my basement now..
That is a good offer

I’ve done the bourbon trail - it’s a good time - and the horse racing is top-notch at Churchill Downs and Keenland both. I’m not a bourbon fan in general, but I appreciate the culture behind it. Churchill Downs is in an awful part of town in Louisville, but it’s got lots of history. Keenland is in a much nicer area. I enjoy going there for a day of races.

I’m considering this offer, however, my doors are Impact Orange, not Red. Not sure if that would matter to you.

I haven’t decided if I want to completely do away with the half doors completely or not.

My biggest complaint (aside from noise) with the half doors is that the off-roading here in KY is a lot of mud, and if I have the doors off (or the top half off) then I get mud EVERYWHERE inside my jeep. And since I can’t easily roll my windows up and down - I have to zip them up and down, which is very annoying - so I end up running with the windows up and air on. And then I just feel silly.

Why did you have to switch hinges?

Like I said, the TJ came from the factory with half doors, and one of the previous owners had bought full doors for it. I know this because the half doors and hinges are the same color as the tub(green),and the full doors are not(dark blue). Evidently the full doors did not have hinges when they bought them.

I see full doors far less often than half doors, so the $1500 price doesn't seem surprising to me. I keep thinking about selling mine to fund other projects.

It’s the opposite in my area. I see full doors all the time, and hardly ever see half doors. I didn’t realize people liked the half doors as much as they do until I was on WTF.

I just undo the two nuts form the pins and lift, install the other doors and reinstall the two nuts. I change back and forth a couple times each year depending on the weather. I do the same with tops, Bikini, full soft top and hard top

I also use these Mcgard locks each time, since these doors are so easy to steel, this is cheap insurance

People actually go around stealing the doors? That is just insane.

I don't know how often it happens, but it would be easier and more profitable than stealing catalytic converters and crackheads do that all the time. If it isn't happening, all it will take is a TJ owner to fall into the grips of addiction.

You still have crackheads in OK? Everyone's upgraded to fentanyl now. Check the border states for the pure crap from China. :poop:

I have no idea what they're using, it doesn't matter much to me beyond being something they'll trade their last shred of human dignity for.

I can definitely speak for fentanyl - I was on 100 micrograms an hour for several months. Great stuff - but I can’t really remember if I had to steal a set of TJ doors to help pay for it…

🙂

I know almost nothing about it other than that it's a ridiculously small dosage and easily overdosed. Does it offer any advantage over other opioids or is it just the hot shiny new toy for pharma?

All I know is that it's a crazy, crazy strong and effective pain killer which can be administered percutaneously via a patch, so it can work well for long term usage. It is prescribed frequently for cancer. That doseage I was on was pretty hefty, small amount that it was. That is why it is so easy to overdose. It's also very addictive - I went through months and months of withdrawal getting off of it.

And to keep the thread on topic - an ounce or two will pay for a set of TJ half doors....

next time you're at Keeneland, stop in the the gift shop and find a french-canadian lady named Francine working there and give her a high five for me.

I guess the percutaneous thing is bit of a bonus. I was just thinking if it's still just as addictive then what's the point of making something powerful enough to make it that easy to accidentally die on it without even knowing you had any. I'd rather it take a large mass so the prescribing doc has some resolution to work with, like a dosage range spanning hundreds of miligrams, vs "2 bits the size of a grain of sand might not be enough, but 3 may put you in a coma".

Nothing cost me more than trying to save money-

I’ve done it a lot of times in my life- Get a deal on something and by the time I round everything up and get myself happy I could have gone first class and saved 20%

At the same time right now it’s getting to the point where we all need to be latching on to what we want at any price for these things- These are basically an extinct species.
I have to agree, AndyG. I'm a COB, (Cheap Old Bastard), so I'm always trying to save a buck.
Either I have to modify the cheap part at more expense, so that it cost more both in money and time than it would have to get the better part to begin with, or the cheap part craps out or doesn't work at all, so I have to REPLACE it with the more expensive part I should have bought to begin with.

Patches are scary imo
