The unfortunate JKU & JLU of the day thread

It is mind boggling how many people actually fall for that but there are plenty of them out there otherwise scams like that wouldn't continue to surface.

Things that stood out to me was not only the unusually low price, also the odd spacing of letters and the fact it was advertised in multiple locations in FL.

It was already removed by the time I clicked on the link but. scams like that run rampant on FB and Craig's list. It's probably the same on other social media platforms that I don't use too...

I like pointing these things out for those who might be taken advantage. I have to take "cyber security" training at least two times a year, company and customer requirement. I talk with my parents about it regularly to make sure they are not taken.

I try to do the same. I barely stopped my mother from giving her banking information to someone who claimed to be a member of her banking institution after she unknowingly clicked on a link that popped up saying she had a virus. I walked in a few minutes after she had clicked on the link.. That link gave them remote access to her computer and they showed her some systems report, that to someone who doesn't work with PCs looked "scary", then told her to sign into her bank account and check to make sure no funds were missing. I told her to shut her computer down, hang up the phone and call her local bank and have them lock down her account. I ended up calling my oldest step son who does IT and had him come over to run diagnostics on her computer and her entire home network.
