I have seen some threads where some people have put JK seats in TJs as replacement options. Had anyone done (or seen info on) JLU seats being put into a TJ? First will they fit in the space and second, how much bracket modification?

Keep an eye on your thread as guys get off work more will post later today- I do know those are comfortable seats and if it’s been done somebody here has experience with it.

I find the seats in the TJ to be more comfortable than in my JT, so I'd almost want to go the other way. The JT seats have better lumbar support though...

I’m not overly worried about comfort. This jeep won’t be used much. Just around camp and an occasional ride around. I just wanted to find another option versus having to pay an upholstery shop a lot to redo my current seats.

I have done some rough measurements from the seats in my wife’s JL and they would be a tight fit. They are wider and taller than TK seats. The Bestop seats would probably be a good option. The shop I work for has used them in several projects and they are a good quality aftermarket seat that is reasonably priced.

Thanks for the insight. I have also seen some JK seats that have been put into TJs with good results. I occasionally see those also and may go that route. If I could find some good condition TJ seats as a direct replacement, I would do that. But they seem to be less and less common (in good shape)

WJ heated, leather seats are more comfy than a well used couch. :)

I'd personally welcome a better seat recommendation. My factory seats are decent but after a few hours on the logging roads/trails I start to notice a bit of discomfort in my lower back. Plus the lack of adequate side bolstering on the factory seats makes your core and lower back work harder to keep you upright in your seat.

JK seats weren't a difficult swap. The fold-n-flip function doesn't really work, but that's also because I believe I got seats from a JKU, so the passenger seat doesn't fold forward very much.

It's good to close those exercise rings when offroading...

I’ve got bmw coupe e92 seats in mine and love them. Mine are the electric version (fully functioning sans airbag) but there are manual versions out there. The bolstering on them is great off-road and felt nice on several sideways obstacles I recently encountered on the rubicon trail. E92 seats are common and fairly cheap on Craigslist. They are a tight fit and will not work with a tuffy console, and the fold and slide forward on them does not offer as much space as forward rolling factory seats. I also couldn’t get the lowest position on them to be as low as factory seats but it’s close. Other than that they are an amazing upgrade.

I thought I had read that they were too wide. I like my JK seats quite a bit, although they're 15 years newer which might be a factor. I couldn't give up the slide & flip functionality though, kids getting in with the hard top on gets hard. (They love climbing over the wheel wells to get in the back).
