What's your dream car collection

A 68-71 Corvette. Technically not me, but my wife wants one in black.

70 Challenger. Specifically the one used in Vanishing Point. Though I think I read somewhere that each one used in the film has been crushed and is gone forever.

The 84 GMC Sierra 2500 I currently have. Someday I'll bring it down to CO and will start taking it apart in the garage. I want to do a complete frame off restoration.

I think you "typo'd" here, my friend. The Vanishing Point Challenger was a '70. There were no '76 or '77 Challengers. There were the Mitsubishi-built '78-'83 Challengers, but the point of their existence has, well...vanished. :sneaky:

TBH? Most people never find "contentment" in life. I did, many years ago. People always pontificate about, if I had this... or if I could only do that...
Well, I've got what I've wanted all along, honestly.
I always wanted a muscle truck and always wanted a Jeep one day.
The days are here, couldn't be any more grateful.
Thank's Big guy for all the blessings.

I'm not saying I don't enjoy the vehicles I have...I do...and they all have an emotional reason for being in the driveway. But...this list is specifically to put it down in writing. There are a lot of cars and trucks that I'd say, "Boy that's nice, I'd like to have one." But its fleeting. The list I made up is comprised of those cars that circle around in my dreams. The ones that I can't get out of my head. The Meyer Manx will probably be my next addition...And I'll probably never have a GT40, or a Ferrari, or perhaps the rarest of the "dreams," the JDM only Fairlane Z 432 (its a 240z with a Skyline motor). Even being a business owner, I'll never have the kind of scratch to make those purchases. I mean, I hope to, but the growth we'd have to experience to give me the millions in disposable income that I'd need would probably rip this place apart!

I watched one of Stradman's videos the other day where he talked about the cost of maintenance, registration and insurance on his car fleet. I don't think I could afford insurance for the list I gave.

If you can afford to drop 7 figures on a "collectible" (or multiples of the same) car, then insurance probably wouldn't be a concern. That's how I look at it anyway...Besides, with those cars...you'd get some sort of group discount, right? LOL

I think he said he had 15 cars and his insurance was $200-$400 per month on most of them. He’s not getting much of a group discount.

Boy, these are some good ones. Lots of car guys here.
Like @Mike_H, I like smaller and more nimble over huge power. For that reason @Chris's LS7 swapped Miata idea stands out, but I don't fit well in Miata's (I've tried-Oh well).

I think @Tray Burge is on to something in having and loving his modest but very cool dream cars.

It's wanting what you've got

I love TJs and S197 Mustangs and I can work on both. In many ways, these are my dream cars:

Neither are rare or exotic. But both are modified to my tastes by me. The cool factor in something so obtainable is special.
Having said that, there is one I'd love but am not willing to spend for:

I drove this 2017 911GT3 for a track day and will never forget its 500HP, 9000RPM, rear wheel drive, naturally aspirated perfection 😍

I’m surprised there are not many Mopars on the list.

Most of these I had, or my brother had at one point. Of course, I wish I had them now. And any of these with any of the big blocks would due… 383, 440 or 426.
  • 68 Charger RT – brother had one, 440 auto
  • 69 Roadrunner – I had one. 383 4sp, no options. No ps/pb/ac, 4-wheel drum brakes. It was a blast to drive.
  • 70 Roadrunner – I had this too. 383 auto, optioned out, even with factory a/c
  • 71 Barracuda – brother had this – 383 but was originally a slant 6.
As for ones I want but never had
  • 70 Superbird or 69 Daytona
  • 70 or 71 Hemi Cuda

My best friend in high school had a rusty 70 Roadrunner which originally had the 383 but had been swapped to a 440 with dual quads. 3 speed auto which lacked and didn't really need 2nd. Total pile and in no way safe to to drive but man that was fun. Hard to believe we survived it :D
