Mopar has discontinued the radiator for my TJ ('02 - 4.0). What else is a good option? The place doing the warranty work on my leaking, aftermarket rad are saying they can get Metrix or CSF. Anyone know if either of those brands are decent? Otherwise it's 1-800 Radiator or Carquest.

I just bought a CSF for mine, haven't even installed it yet what with the crazy weather we've been having.

do you mind sharing what part number you bought, country of origin, number of tubes and the number of fins per inch? CSF is on my radar for a potential OEM alternative.

If so, do whatever works for you, but my preferred fin counting technique is to take a pencil imprint on a piece of paper for about 3-4" , then count the fins in a whole number of inches, and divide it back out.

I can’t find the thread, but I am fairly confident that I saw a post from @mrblaine saying you can use a radiator from later TJ, and something about fittings for the Trans Cooler (I have a stick so that doesn’t matter for me).

So 02 vs 05 or 06 Mopar Radiator would work?

If I’m wrong I’ll eat crow, but search for that, I’ve read every cooling system thread I can find the past 2 weeks.

Yes, you can run the later ones in the early TJ's. I have one for an 05 in my 97.

That's the same one I just told my shop to order. There is a heavy duty 2 row model I was considering but the shop said it was the only one they could get since they don't have a distributor account with CSF. That ebay price is considerably lower than Rock Auto and certainly a lot less than my shop is charging me. Wish I had seen the posts from @cpwolf and @mrblaine before I made the call but that probably would have cost me a lot more. At least I'm not paying for labor again😁
Thanks to all for the responses. I'm sure this is going to be an ongoing question.
I will also add that I had been driving my Jeep a lot more than usual when that 1800 rad sprung a leak. On the highway and in some high heat over the week prior.
Correction: The price of that rad on Rock Auto is about the same as the ebay price. I was remembering the wrong model.
