Are body mount bolts hard to remove for sliders?

Hi all - I did a Google search and couldn’t find my answer. Thought I’d ask here. I have been reading about body mount vs frame mount sliders for TJ/LJ. I’ve been looking at some body mount rock rails that will suit my needs. This is my first TJ era Jeep (2005 LJ). I also have a JL and have had several JKs and I remember people with newer era Jeeps having a heck of a time trying to remove body mount bolts and ultimately snapping them because they’re supposedly installed using red Loctite or thread locker and folks are trying to remove them without heating them first.

When I searched, I found a ton about JL problems, but didn’t see anything that answered my question about TJ/LJ. Should I be concerned about removing the body mount bolts myself during the install? There’s no rust on them and it’s been a lower mileage 45k garaged LJ for its lifetime. I haven’t gotten under it and tried it with a breaker bar or anything yet - wanted to ask here first. I don’t have the capability to heat up bolts in my garage as-is.

I’ve wrenched most of the mods on my Jeeps DIY that utilize basic tools but I don’t have the advanced stuff or knowledge. Will I have problems with the body mount bolts?

Thanks in advance!

Thanks 👍 I don’t have a like option to show my thanks (maybe not enough posts yet or something), but wanted to say thanks anyway!

No problem. The 6 larger middle bolts are torqued to 50ft lbs and the 1 smaller bolts under radiator and 4 at rear are only 35ft lbs.

Sliders that attach with body mount bolts are generally frowned upon by the more knowledgeable members here. As are frame mounted sliders

Damned if you do, damned if you do something else, it seems based on that description 😃. Will check out that thread you suggested. This Is a light camping, kayaking, MTB, and more so beach fun build with doors and top off most often and something to protect me from idiot door openers as I mall crawl and run local errands. No bouncing off rocks here - too afraid I’ll do unrepairable damage with my skill set… ha! So, minimal serious protection is fine with this beachfront Jeeper (for now).
Thanks for the help!

Whichever sliders you choose, just make sure they have absolutely nothing to do with the frame or with the body mounts.

If you get body mount mounted sliders, just cut them so they dont tie into the body mounts. With your intended use of parking at the mall, anything will work. However, sandwhiching any thickness of metal in the body mount is a bad idea.

Id recommend the sliders JJVW has.
