05' JMT's Twin Teenager's Rubicon Build

great idea. did you forego the middle bolt or affix it to the bolt somehow?

Those three bolts attach the stock fender support to the grille. Since the fenders are cut and that support is gone none of them are really needed (as far as I know), so we just drilled it out to 3/4” to fit the side marker.

P.s. Kicker self-powered sub installed this morning in the white Jeep! Plug and play with no issues!

makes sense! i'm trying to figure out a different way to do a side marker with my tnt phantom fenders but I need that support.. i'll come up with something!

glad to hear the install went well! 😎

You can drill a hole just behind it in the fender wall. I’ve seen that done before.

Found an 05-06 stock air box and tube in OR on FB. These are different than the 97-04 which did not have the sensor on the intake tube. Guy shipped it to me for $130. Hard to find them cheaper than $160 on EBay, and darn near hard to find anywhere. This will replace some crap aftermarket ram air with k&n filter that is loud and obnoxious.

I love those packing bins for some reason…

I really want to update this thread, but I'm too tired and overworked. We have made progress. Let me correct that, he has made progress. The corner armor on the passenger side is installed and we're painting next Monday. All the painting is happening next Monday. TMR door hinges things are going in. The evap canister was completely removed and all of it treated, painted, and done right. The needle scaler is very helpful getting into tight spots. Let's see, the driver rock slider will go on sometime next week after the painting is all dry. A lot of other stuff including rust treatment has happened. He drives it with the top off and loves it. Oh, I discovered it already has 2" + 1" spacer lift in the front and 2" in the rear with OME Nitrocharger shocks, so I'm assuming this is a typical 2" OME package (just very old). It's rusted to hell so most of it will come off, definitely the shocks. The Walker Evans shocks we have need about a 4.25" suspension lift to get 50:50 travel, so I'll see what I can come up with. We've got some Titan 1" wheel spacers coming (they sent us the wrong ones). The suspension will go on soon. Then the 33's will go on. Hoping to have that done by early September.

That's all I can think of now.

You giving him the high zoot, tunable walker evens and you're sticking with the Ranchos? Me thinks you are in error, young grasshopper

I knew from the previous thread updates that he had done the passenger side, just wasn’t sure if he had done the driver’s. 😉 looking great BTW.

It’s done. I just need to take more pics. I’ve been too busy. I wouldn’t be on here except it’s 5:53am. Thanks for the encouragement. It does look good. I’ll try to get more pics soon.

Here’s some more things we’ve done with pics. The cheap tailgate hinges ($40) had crappy hardware that rusted in a few weeks. Replaced with all stainless. Much better.

Corner armor is installed on the passenger side and all the holes are rotabroached on the driver side. We just need some more 1/4-20 nutserts with a body diameter of 0.35”. They are on order. The armor will be painted body match.

MCE’s on the driver side for the infamous @DrDmoney.
