I've been seeing an influx on a lot of forums and social media of photos and videos from the driver's seat. Please, please, please leave your phone alone when you're behind the wheel.

Nothing on your phone is worth hurting or killing yourself or someone else.

A few years ago, I was nearly hit head-on by another Jeep whose driver was screwing around with his phone. The only reason I know it was the reason as to why he drifted into my lane is because he had the phone sitting up in his field of vision, something drivers do in order to "make sure they can still see the road ahead."

Sorry if this sounds preachy, but I'm not interested in dying for someone else's Facebook post.

x2...I drive to get away from my phone.it stays on my pocket and stays there.....Nothing can be that important that it cant wait 5 min till you pull over...we should spend more time living rather than replying to a text or call and losing it all.

California has outlawed using a phone with your hands when you drive. Even with the law in place and sizeable fines, I still see people on their phones every single day when I drive to and from work. It's terribly disappointing really. What could be so important that they are willing to risk their life along with the lives of everyone else on the road for a message. I don't get it.

In NY hands free is good enough...so these morons just put there phone on speaker and use one hand to hold it up to their mouth, so now they are driving with one hand and still looking at the phone.............................

Oregon has the same laws. Makes no difference at all.

Stupid is as stupid does lol

Every state has some sort of speed limit, too. The majority of people that don't use their phone while driving likely weren't doing so prior to the law. People just don't care and/or think nothing will happen to them. Same with drunk driving.

That is a good point till it becomes real! Then lives change. Too bad this isn't learned before the accident.

My friends get mad at me because I won't even answer the phone if I am driving or make calls. I grew up without having a phone, and did just fine. Don't see the need to have one in the car. I don't even change usb's in the stereo while driving. The most I do is hit the arrow for the previous/next song or turn the volume up or down. Outside of that. it is just driving. I guess it may be because, like Chris, I am a motorcycle rider, and I know how dangerous I can be in my cage.

I refuse to call it an accident when it something is avoidable. Same with drunk drivers; no excuse with cabs, Uber, Lyft, etc all readily accessible.

It's illegal here in Illinois to text behind the wheel and use your phone without a hands-free device. Unfortunately, that doesn't stop a ton of people from making the morning commute even more insane than it should be.

"Hey! Traffic! What better time to check my emails?"

We have problems with the Tourists here...not being able to drive and being distracted by scenery...crossing the centre line is the main issue on the B roads.

British Columbia also .... as a lifetime motorcyclist, it's getting to the point where the odds just aren't with you anymore.
With the distracted drivers and folks that honestly can't drive .... it's just dangerous !

Yes, it is dangerous indeed. I pay attention to this stuff even more so as a motorcycle rider (I'm sure you do too). I won't ride in the city anymore, I'll only ride on country backroads, where the chances of running into driving and texting idiots is at least a bit less likely than in the city, where they'll smash into you from the rear while you're sitting at a stop light.

Yes, I saw one where somewhere in New Zealand (or maybe Australia) the tourists drove their rental car into the ocean because the GPS told them too! True story.

Very true...in the south island we have curvy roads and people look at the view without looking out their front window...GPS says straight even though you can see the boat ramp in front of you, so of course you ignore your own eyes haha....stupid !!

Not preachy at all. Good reality check!
