What did you do to your TJ today?

Used it as my runner back and forth on this tiny house-

We have 7 days worked on this-

That is Kristin she is the bride to be- spunky all the way.

What's the story on the cj5?

Another Jeep in the shop where I was getting the frame repaired. It was in tough shape. I spent some time looking at it. Owner had done some questionable things. Engine was crooked/misaligned. The engine mounts looked improvised. Wiring was, well, non-standard. Looked good from a distance. Up close was kind of a shit show.

got a link?

This is the storage tray: https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B07LGNKS41/?tag=wranglerorg-20
The charger integration was custom. I attached the charger to the tray and ran the wire under the dash to a hardwired USB outlet that I wired through a relay to a switch on the lower dash and straight to the battery so I can charge regardless of the jeep running, and can also not charge if I don't need it and don't want the phone getting hot(ter) on the dash. Since the charger is magnetic it holds the phone very nicely in place. With wireless CarPlay I hardly ever have to touch the phone while driving. Just toss it up in the try, magnet grabs it, and go.

What is missing from this picture?

That goober @ John Cooper is and a bunch of little rubber ducks 🤣🤣🤣

I’m back on the loose....

I took the jeep for a good shake down with the wife along. I knew the rubber was all worn in the control arms and all but really showed on some of the rough roads. I thought the air conditioning didn't work but I bought a part , some kind of controller for the fan and it started to work , nice cool air ! I have everything to rebuild the suspension so I guess I will start on that tomorrow since I have the interior kind of done.
Engine runs good , lots of pep . Trans shifts smooth , jeep really runs good......nice !
Got dark and I found the insterment lights don't work, going to check all the fuses in the morning. I have an airbag light and the horn does not work, don't know what's going on there ??? Found out the lights don't go off by their self ....what the hell LOL !
Once new suspension parts in and both drive shafts rebuilt and I will feel good to drive it anywhere. A few other things sorted out and it will be good to go.

Put in a few hours of work between yesterday and today. Put a new valve cover gasket on my 2.5L. Second one I’ve installed since owning. The first one was just a rubber gasket, the second had a rigid metal frame inside and seems like a better fit than the first. Also took the bolts out of the exhaust manifold and put some medium thread locker on them and torqued them back down. A couple of the bolts have tended to loosen themselves a couple of times since I installed the new manifold in spring so hopefully this will fix that. Also put a tumbler into my center console since it has never had one. Now I can half ass lock it although a big screwdriver could easily pry it open lol. Also fixed the lift gate support that my wife broke while at the beach. I hope the epoxy holds on that one but if not I’ll go to plan B. Next I need to pull the fenders to sand and paint due to chipping paint and some surface rust starting.

Found some Select Increments dash pods in the garage that I forgot I had purchased. I was hoping to get some more bass out of these Polk’s but it’s just not happening. They seem to have a hollow sound no matter how I tune them. That’s what subwoofers are for though I guess

Did you do them yourself or have a shop do it? I need to paint mine. Still not sure if I wanna do it or just have someone do it.

Mechanically yes, but the “LOCK” symbols are opposite between the two pairs.

I got lucky and found a white pair. They need a couple touch-ups but nothing much.

They came with the door handles inside and out but nothing else. So I need the latches to connect the handles to, some trim, locks, and rear view mirrors. I'll get some locks I can rekey to match mine in case I get the tops at some point too.

I may skin the insides with automotive carpet and adhesive as I wait to find gray interior pieces.

So if the same latches work, I'll order a set.

After living with the TrekTop Nx for a few weeks, having painted the underside black,

Today I finally got to paint the quarter and back windows.

I am totally happy with this replacement top. I figured out how to modify the back windows so a can roll it up.

My one and only remaining complaint is the oe design of the side clips. I had a TrekTop Nx on one of my JKs and the door surrounds didn’t use side clips. Instead there were rain gutters built into the door surrounds and no clips. Would be great if this design carried over to the TJ.

Ah I see what you’re saying. I’m pretty sure the internal mechanisms are totally different.
