Alright, so I have loooked at several other threads and am now stumped,

Red airbag light is on, has been for months. It was flashing intermittently when it first started, seemed to come on as the Jeep warmed up, but now the light stays on continuously from cold start. (It is 110* ambient here)

The amber airbag off light by the passenger airbag switch illuminates when the ignition first comes on and goes off after a few seconds, the switch appears to function normally.

The horn has always worked, but I tried replacing the clock spring with a used unit, light is still on.

Had the dealer read the code, said something about airbag open circuit, but they weren’t exactly friendly when I wen’t to have it checked.

Thoughts? Airbag control module?

Informative video, but the OP stated above "The amber airbag off light by the passenger airbag switch illuminates when the ignition first comes on and goes off after a few seconds, the switch appears to function normally" so the problem would appear to be elsewhere.
I would try disconnecting the harness from the Airbag Module (on transmission hump beneath dashboard) and inspecting the terminals and harness connector for oxidation. IF the terminals and harness connector are clean; then there is a good chance the problem is the Airbag Module. I have heard there is a way to reset the module, but I am not exactly sure how that is done.

I’ll try to tare out the center consule and take a look at the airbag connection tonight, could a bad airbag also cause the light to go on? I was under the impression that the airbags themselves are almost entirely explosives and not electrical.

Removal of the Airbag Module does not require the removal of the center console; the module can be removed by removing a couple screws.
Each airbag has an electrical connector from the Airbag Module so that it can be activated.

My bad, I was referring to control module removal for the purposes of checking the connections, I have already removed the drivers air bag itself to replace the clock spring, but know of no way to safely test the airbag to see if it is the fault in the system.

Same problem. 1999 TJ. Clock spring replaced. Airbag light still on. Looking to swap airbag control module. My airbag light goes out for a split second after start up, then airbag light turns on again... however in the video above it appears his airbag light doesn't have the split second off.... hard to tell because he's jerking the camera around.

I tried to find a SRS reader... first reader falsely advertised it had the function. Second reader had SRS but couldn't connect to SRS. Maybe it couldn't read anything because the ACM is fried...

they are cheap on ebay so checking the connection and maybe ordering a used one to swap out.... If the swap doesn't work its not possible to know which airbag is dead, so I'll just have to abandon the fix as I'm not going to buy new airbags..........

Well, I finally got around to working on this (you would think airbags would have made themselves a higher priority) I pulled out the control module today, checked the connections and found abosoluetly nothing out of the ordinary, looked great. I suppose the module could still be fried and I just can’t tell but it did not appear to be so. I think I’m going to take her by the dealer again and see if I can’t get the SRS code read. I’m frustrated with how little information there is on testing/ repairing the airbag system.

My clockspring was out of commission for a few years. I wonder if that has any bearing on the ACM giving up, maybe until its reset? Disconnecting battery for a while and touching both + and - together to reset the computer?

Wow this is getting confusing, so I pulled the switch again after having intermittent light, it would go out occasionally at stop light when the jeep was cold and the ambient under roughly 80*, for the first hour of driving/ first key cycle then it was on and staying on. I wound up Blue-wiring the switch "on" thinking that the copper contacts that slide on the pad may be causing my pain. and now the light is just on no matter what, so that great. Current theory is that maybe the condensation from the HVAC box is somehow dripping into the ACM (Airbag Control Module) connection and causing problems (the humidity here has been crazy) and then jumping the switch caused the light to be on all the time. Yes its a stretch but its that, the ACM or maaaaybe a loose connection (unless I have forgotten something?) I really need to get an SRS scanner.

Did you ever resolve this issue? My clock spring failed. Took it apart and soldiered the connections. Horn works but still have an airbag light same as you where it goes out momentarily after starting. I’m wondering if there’s a specific reset to clear the airbag error code. I saw something about reset procedures for airbag error on off-roadpro but it wasn’t specific to a wrangler. Wondering if you found a reset because supposedly airbag codes are held in memory.

I still have the light, I actually just had it turn off and back on again this morning so I will be investigating that eventually. next best guess is the ACM or a wiring short, I need to go by the dealer again to see exactly what the code says.
