I have a 2004 Rubicon with 26,000 original miles, I have a couple of issues I need help on.
The first is, If I turn the key on and off three or four times to prime the engine it starts right up, If I just try to start it normally it takes several tries before it starts. Would that be a fuel pump or sending unit issue?

The other issue is today I had my engine light come on, the code ended up being a misfire on cylinder 2. Could that be an injector, plug, or ignition coil pack?

I also have a little noise from my front drive shaft, I was told it's cheaper to replace it rather than have the u joints replaced where it goes into the transfer case. If that's true, what would ya'll recommend for an aftermarket front drive shaft?

Thanks for the help.

Fuel leaking down causing hard start, suspect misfire leaking injector a nice scenario.
Of course it'll need to be diagnosed

I've never had to mess with this, but I would check for leak down with your fuel pressure, there's a process where you pressurize, then see how long it takes you to lose a certain amount of pressure. Obviously I don't know the details, but I bet the internet does. Might even be in the FSM?

1. Replace the fuel pressure regulator. Very common issue.

2. Yes. Check the fuel injectors to make sure they are not cracked. A big one with those is dry rotted O rings.

3. Replace the U joints, and do it soon. If you are experiencing noise (angry sparrows?) it can seize and blow up your transfer case. With it being a Rubicon, that would be a $2000 mistake. if you can't fix it now, at least remove your front driveshaft so you don't risk the failure.

Sell it. Way too many miles for an '04

Must be wokie math.
26K and all these problems where did you get this jeep? If it was in an Estate sale it could have been sitting for years. I got one and all seals and rubber parts were dried out. If you paid $15K +- spend a little more. But if you over paid, then it's your call

I don't think it's cheaper to buy a new driveshaft but if you want a new one, Adams and tom wood's are 2 that are highly recommended.
