99 TJ with Bestop softop. With the "sunrider" folded back - the two straps with the hooks the slip over the ridge on the back door are constantly coming unattached (and flapping in the breeze). This is a new issue and it doesnt seem like they are getting loose. Not sure what is happening. I tried cinching them extra tight but it then just distorts the bar that sits in the back across the roll bar. Thoughts/suggestions?

I have the same issue when folding back the front portion. I have since ignored using the "sunrider" position, roofs either all the way on or all the way down for me. one thought is to adjust tension on your roll bar pivot point for the soft top by moving it away from the roll bar one hole. adjusting it one hole further out should apply more tension to the wings, this may in turn cause some more difficulty when reattaching the roof to the windshield due to the additional tension.

I may have misunderstood but I have not seen any mention of trektop. "straps and hooks" im under the impression of the sails and plastic wedges that fit under the tub lip. your probably correct. I hear soft top and I assume the typical oem style.

Take the straps and put thin beads of silicone where they go through the buckles and that will give them the grip they’re missing- Let it dry first.

Not sure.. OP didn't mention specifically which Bestop soft top. It's pretty common that the straps and hooks unhook from the inside of the belt rail. Mine did regardless of the position of the sunrider, whether windows were in or out or where I hooked the strap. And they never slid in the buckle, there just isn't a spot on the rail that keeps constant tension... hence the footman's loop. Reversing the hooks makes is a bit more tedious to hook them to the footman's loop, but even if they loosen the hooks aren't going to un-hook.
