I just bought this and I have a question about rust and such. I am sure I will have others. I have a 2020 Gladiator but wanted something 2 door with a manua for fun. My axles turned to shit in my Gladiator after a re-gear and it will be 15 weeks for a new one. So, this is my daily driver now. The frame has minimal surface rust. I just opened the steering column to install a new turn signal replay. The electronics sometimes go whacky. There is rust on the metal running up the column. surface rusty all over actually. Is this normal? I'm hoping I didn't get a hurricane Katrina jeep.

I'm guessing the Jeep is a soft top. If so, it's normal to have surface rust on metal parts inside the Jeep in our area. Even for hard top models, I've also seen rust on brackets. Jeep didn't treat the metal and the humidity alone will cause it to rust.

It's perfectly normal. Even my LJ that spent it life in Arizona has some surface rust on the column and supports.

Agree. My Jeep has been out west its whole life and has the same. No big deal.

Normal..I disassemble dry west coast jeeps and they all have a light coat of surface rust all over the pedals, back of the dash etx..im talking about light powdery rust that cleans off easily not flaking or scaly rust

Care to elaborate on the Gladiator axles going to shit?

I changed gears, had a noise in the rear, they replaced them again, same noise. Yukon says that some gladiator have slightly defective housing where the pinion bearing goes. Pulled again and sure enough the wear was uneven. I ordered a whole axle (Dana 60 because might as well) The wait is 12 -15 weeks and now the pinion seal blew out I think because it spews diff fluid everywhere. So this LJ that was purchased as a toy, is now my daily driver until I get my truck fixed. Everyday since I bought it, new things are popping up to fix. Now the 4wd light is on but not in 4wd and the turns and hazards stopped working.
I had put a new relay in to stop the hyper flash. It buzzed then all stopped working. I put the factory relay back, didn't fix it. Checked every fuse and none are blown. I will have to check more when I get off work.
