Just curious on folk’s thoughts on the center consoles that are out on the market. I’m not necessarily concerned about the locking factor but , I’d sure like to have something that looks better and is a little more functional then what is in there now. I reckon if I could find a nice factory one , I’d just as soon have that but …. No luck there.

I got a full console to replace the half console in my 97 tj on eBay from deadjeep… I’ve had good luck getting used parts from them and as for the console it was in perfect condition (needed a good cleaning) and I think I gave $150 for it…

I saw that mentioned somewhere the other day. I looked at their website and they didn’t have on. I haven’t been on eBay in so long I forgot about it. I’ll check it out.

Stock consoles aren't to hard to find at Junkyards. I've picked up a few over the last several years. The lock cylinder is eaily removed for rekeying. Keep in mind the front half is slightly different on the 05-06 if you start looking. You can use them from older years but the colors are different and the front half has a slightly different attachment point. Car-part.com and LKQ are a good place to start.

I appreciate the information. I think I’ve already found a few to check out on car-part.com

Those that have the tuffy console , could someone measure the shifter hole cutout please ? I’m trying to figure out how I’m going to go about a shifter boot.

will this allow for the factory sub woofer to remain in the console?

I have the one without the sub woofer but as Jerry mentioned there is a model with one for it.

Which tuffy console are you looking at?

This is mine, you can see its cutout for the subwoofer.

You don't happen to know what type of fasteners hold the console to the body do you? I just bought my TJ and the console (although in good shape) is just sitting in the jeep with any fasteners. Thanks in advance for the help.

Two bolts, one through the bottom of the console and the second through the front cup holder area. Plus a couple of sheet metal screws around the edges that screw into the floor.
