What did you do to your TJ today?

I am looking forward to doing that soon. How was the experience driving it after the gear change?

i have 4.0, 42rle. Previously had 3.73 gears, which combined with 32 inch tires made the 4th gear useless in pretty much any scenario.
Acceleration sucked, not fun to drive.
With 4.56 gears, it is actually OK. It is much easier to accelerate, in general it stopped feeling like a dog.
I am getting now 2410RPM at 70MPH in overdrive. It is acceptable, but not ideal for 32s by far.
I am going to switch to 31x10.5R15 BF KO2s, and this will pull my RPMs to around 2520, which is better.

Finally installed my Mopar oil pressure sensor, then the Jeep wouldn't start. The wire that broke off the starter and I fixed, didn't hold up. The connector I bought wasn't tight enough. Time to look for a new one somewhere. I clamped it down with pliers and still no start. Now I noticed the battery is dead. Screw that Murphy and his Law.

I had a USB "Micro" pigtail in the glove box to charge my phone. My new Sonim uses "USB C", so I needed to change the pigtail. I also recently purchased a new video camera, which still uses "Micro" for whatever inexplicable reason. Although I have USB charge ports in the dash, I'd prefer to charge the video cam out of sight along with the phone, so I bought an octopus charge cable with both "C" as well as "Micro". Would have been nice if it had had "Mini" as well, but you can't have everything!

USB "C" is what USB should have used for connectors 20 years ago!

Zorb - I thought for sure your phone would have been RS-232…

🙂

That's a communications standard - no charging capability! 232 has its place as it can go farther than USB can (unaided), but RS-422 or even current loop can go miles! USB is the best thing to happen to computers since hard disk drives!

Speaking of RS-232, I just - as in 2 days ago - removed from service a UPS that had RS-232 comms on it. Not because of the 232 (which I wasn't using), but because it wasn't happy running on our generator, the centuries newer APC I replaced it with works fine on generator power, and has a USB port so the computer will know its status and can shut down if needed.

Anybody need a perfectly good 550VA UPS?

You are just too high tech now. ;) This is my phone. Best of both worlds. Flip and rotary.

Man I had a CJ5 Levi's and believe it or not, I had a Levi's 304 v8 Gremlin. We pulled the 304 and dropped in a 401 out of an AMX     talk about a fast little car....

I love the CJ5 Levi jeep but having the look in a TJ is the bomb ! I guess I should put in a V8 with side pipes but NO! I do have plans for a change of the power plant but I am going with turbo diesel , 30MPG and all. I think that will better suit me and to me make the jeep perfect !

I’m getting a little vibration with them, but still easy enough to see to the rear… it’s like the mirror vibration you get in a car with loud stereo…

Must be something in the air I washed my TJ yesterday too… some Meguiars car cleaning products were on special and decided to give them ago. Then went for a walk along the beach.
Also pulled the stuff off the garage walls etc... we have to move house in 6 weeks. :( (landlord has sold the house) So the new carpet and sound deadening will have to wait till the new place as Im spending my weekends either looking at new homes or working .
