I've been racking my brain on how to mount the remote head for my ham radio.

How are people mounting their removable head units?

The radio is a Yeasu FTM-400XDR

Thanks

Suggestions: I would put the main body under the driver's seat since there is tuff under the passenger seat people might step on it getting in. As for the control head I made a piece of wood that would Velcro into the tray in the middle bezel above the ventes. This way I can pull it out when parked or with the top down. Antenna and other connections go along the top of the dash and down along to door sash to the radio deck and antenna comes off the radio deck to a taillight mount 3/8-24 antenna spigot. This way my 2 meter rig or my G90 HF rig can be used with the antenna. The HF set up has a fold down shelf on the tailgate door I can set up for POTA. Lawn chair and a beer!

I mounted the main body under the seat as Jerry suggested and the faceplate inside the center console, but I don't like not being able to see it much more than I thought. I'm planning to mount it above the rear view mirror attached to the windshield frame.

Wrong section btw. I'm sure this will be moved. Just FYI this section is for guides on "how to" but questions. Not being snarky, just info.

I mounted the face above the windshield and the main body on top of the stereo.

The microphone plugs into a receptacle on my dash switch panel, so dangling wires in the way.
