Fox 2.0 Front Shocks and Tower Relocation

Adjustability, also more fluid so they don’t get as hot so they’ll have a more consistent feel through various conditions.

Apples to apples for the sake of comparison, you can just as easily tune a steel body emulsion without a reservoir as you can one with a reservoir. Typically the only difference is the addition of the reservoir.

The reasons we run RR shocks are for linear shock response over time. The emulsion shock mixes the compressed gas charge that is over the oil with the oil and makes the fluid spongy which varies the shock response over time. There is a slight benefit of heat reduction but not much really. The only additional oil is what is replacing the gas charge but we also typically use that space to fit a longer shock in the same place. Or put another way, a RR shock can be shorter due to eliminating that air space from the body and converting that to piston shaft length.

From what I gather from them, one tune fits all.

That's what it seems like for the application specific Performance shocks, and they are priced a bit higher than other places. For the Factory series shocks they advertise free tuning, so the price is the same as other places. Still undecided on Performance vs Factory series.

Based on my measurements, with Currie 3" springs, the Fox 10" RR is pretty much perfect for extended length. I looked at those PP brackets, but they seem overkill and are pricy.

If you are changing the towers then you aren’t limited on fitment. 11” shocks fit well under stock fenders and 4” lift with the poly towers

Of all the people here, he knows the most around him who can help fit a decent shock onto his Jeep.

I just realized I'm an idiot. My 26" extended number I kept looking at is based on stock mounts, obviously irrelevant when changing mount points. My actual total travel is a tad over 11", so I should probably go with the 11" shock.

I'm a big believer in putting 11" Foxes up front using Poly mounts to entirely replace the factory stuff.

After seeing Blaine's pics that's how I'm leaning. I've already gone from hundred something dollar of the shelf shocks to the the Fox Remotes. What's another $200 on the Poly mounts. I guess I know where my Polis Bucks are going!

Finally doing some much-needed upgrades to the front shocks and am looking at using the Fox 2.0 shocks and relocating the towers with the Ford towers. My main question is about finding the right shocks that will work. I know Savvy sells these, but the lengths aren't quite what I'm looking for. I'm more interested in the 985-24-042, which are Tj specific, and have a collapsed length of 16.650" and extended length of 26.750". I have Currie 3" springs and the extended length is pretty much perfect, and they would give me a full 10" of travel split just about 50/50. The problem is these are stem mount. Does anyone know an alternate part number for these that will work with the Ford shock towers? Also, is Savvy/Blaine/whoever still doing the custom TJ tune for these?

Good to see you come out from under a log!

We have a few front and rear outboards under the belt if you want to take a look.

Anyone figure out that those two pics are not of the same shock and they represent $1200 just in shocks?

I would like to see someone try to get a workable set of DSC modified 2.0s out of Accutune. 🤣

I ordered a set of the 11” on the 4th of July from poly, I have received the rears but the fronts are back ordered till March or May of next year.

Wow, that sucks. I'll call Poly and AccuTune to double check lead times, but if it's really that far out the Jeep is going back together with old shocks for now. I need it drivable to do emissions testing for registration.

I noticed those, I was speaking to the tuner shop you recommended about that mod and custom tune. The two speed adjuster seems like the way to go. I asked for a price for the mod and tune and the price I received seemed way low ( I was speaking to the employee). Is that $1200 for the pair?
