I’ve got an ‘03 Sahara with the 42RLE auto trans. 61k miles on it in pristine shape.
A few months ago driving it all of a sudden it wouldn’t shift out of second gear. Got it home and called a buddy. Ordered a TCM and installed. Cleared codes and nothing.
Ordered a Solonoid kit with filter and replaced both and rest codes and nothing. Ordered the input and output sensors and cleared codes…nothing.
Am I missing something to try with out just taking it to have the teams rebuilt? Please help, on a budget here and just want this thing to shift again!

What codes were you getting? I was fortunate, replacing the solenoid pack fixed my 2004 TJ's 42RLE's limp mode and inability to shift properly.

And a big welcome to WTF! :)

Funny you say that as my uncle had a brake line issue in another car at his place caused by squirrels sharpening their teeth on the stainless break lines. Wondering if they managed to get to something on this vehicle as well. I’m going to start the process of looking.
I ordered a 2ga copper wire kit to replace all the original positive and ground cables since it seems to be an electrical issue and the vehicle is 20 years old. Figured it’s a good start to have sufficient power flow and ground.
