E-Bikes

So i've upped my budget to 3K plus and am looking at a QuiteCat Ranger with the 750W mid drive.

I like those a lot, but the racks are crazy expensive IMO.

Oops I read that wrong. That's for the hitch mount stuff bike rack.

Whatever you get you need some pages on here to review it and update it every now and then.

I keep going back to thinking I'll just get something like a Radpower bike at some point and then just see if I have any use for an ebike and then get my wife 1 and then maybe upgrade from there, that way I've got a bunch of these bikes for some additional easy transportation I can easily keep powered up.

I've heard you can go on like Alibaba or something and get some incredible deals, since most of this stuff is just straight up Chinese produced (copied, subsidized, etc) anyway, but that site looks intimidating.

you are correct. uping to a model with mid drive pushes it above my "new Budget" of 3K plus. And mechanical disc's, not hydraulic. Still haven't hit the Buy it Now button. A lot of $$$ for a bike!

I thought I was gonna grab something about $2k then got all the way up to about $4k and now I think I'm gonna shoot for sub $2k and just see if I like the concept. At a minimum I see 1 of these being an emergency backup transportation that I can charge pretty easily with solar. And I live so close to work that it's actually a reasonable commute for me, except I don't trust other drivers to be on a bike going to work in the dark and leaving in the dark. I've been passed by drivers too many times where there's NO WAY they can see oncoming traffic and I'm guessing if they saw an oncoming car, they're going to swerve into my lane.

The more I dug into it, the more I was un-attracted to them.

Digging up a necro thread, but I've been looking at these myself lately.

What made you decide that you weren't interested anymore?

I'm seeing some pretty good deals used, so it looks like quite a few folks buy them and then decide it's not for them after all.

I've had my EMTB for several years now and I absolutely love it. Some say it's cheating but those people are generally the ones who haven't ridden one before. It's a blast to ride and it's just as hard as an analog MTB. The only difference is you can go twice as far. In fact, I never even use the motor on mine unless I am ascending big hills.

Picked up a used Lectric XP 3.0 for the wife off of the marketplace for a really great price.

Kind of an experiment to see if she/we like them.

This thing is awesome!

The big hill in our neighborhood is now an easy climb.

I'm probably going to end up getting myself a 1000W minimum MTB.

But Hey!

The Yeti is on sale for only $7600!!!

Wait? It doesn't have fenders?

I'm going to get sprayed by trail debris?

*Empties cart* :(

Fenders are pretty pointless on a MTB. Just wear riding glasses and you'll be fine. I think the only times I've had trail debris hit me was riding people's asses in races and riding in mud.
