Poor Ride Quality

I added the word invisible to the post to clarify what is very often a question about modified and upgraded steering usually with hydro assist added. The common sentiment by those unfamiliar is that they don't want over assisted steering that makes it difficult to drive the rig or alters the steering response in some negative manner. If you follow a few basic rules with sound installation principles, full blown custom steering with hydro assist is fully transparent and the only way you can tell anything has been done is now you can turn in the rocks (where it can turn) as easily as you do in a parking lot.

You tend to try and get a lot of your assistance on the various FB groups you belong to and by and large, they really aren't helping. I've about given up since almost everything that is pointed out as being fairly deficient except in very narrow experience ranges, is then argued about by folks who have worked on and fixed 1 vehicle ever, the one they are driving.

Looks like I am done listening to Dave... and taking the Facebook groups advice with a grain of sand. I need to start paying more attention here.

Poor ride quality, comfort, ride so poorly, NVH, excessive noise, rattles, ride quality is out of hand, harshness, hit a bump and steering wheel goes one way, steering wheel wanders back and forth just going straight, huge dead spot in steering, harshness, harshness, bump steer, wobble over bumps, tires turn left and right almost independent of the steering wheel, hit a bump the wheel wants to follow...that isnt the part I am worried about, tire wobble
Here is a list of the symptoms described and in order, pulled from posts in this thread. Maybe it will help with diagnosis to see it all condensed.

I will try this for sure. If it comes up to be the steering gear (it probably is, I have adjusted the Allen screw hoping for improvement before and found little if any) then I will take you up on the steering box if available.

A lot will depend on what I have out there. I know I have several, most of them are very high mileage. I only keep those around to give to folks who wheel with a group since they tend to break the sector shaft off out here more than should be legal. Even a worn out gear will get them off the trails so it is better to have a worn one than none.

One thing that really alters the perception of ride quality is rattles and loose crap in and the rig making noise. I can filter it out to diagnose an issue, most can't. Empty rig of anything that rolls around or rattles, fix every rattle that you can find and get the rig pleasant to drive. Only then will most be able to filter out the actual issue from a noise problem.

I'm surprised I don't see any pictures of your front end setup in this thread.

It is there. I will post one here though

I will try to take everything out. I keep it fairly empty other than change and some tools. My tailgate wobbles some though I am sure. Along with every latch I think lol.

Looks like you have swaybar quick disconnects - that can easily cause rattling, knocking, noise/harshness, whatever you want to call it when going over bumps.

Adjust the latches to stop that crap. The help you need starts with you. You have to do all you are able to tune up the rig so you can figure out what is going on.

I do

Is there any way to tighten this up/make it quit rattling? I believe the hinges are worn. May just have to replace it with a MoRyde
