Hey guys. Currently doing an overhaul on my TJ (1998, 4.0 manual trans, Dana 30 in front Dana 44 rear) and I ordered and received these pinion nuts. They look a little weird and haven’t seen anything like them compared to online. Wondering if I got the wrong parts or if these will work? Planned on doing pinion seals on both front and rear axles soon.

Doing rear today, (hopefully) for rear Dana 44. Torque nut to about 200 foot pounds?

Thanks y’all!

Those look like Flexloc nuts. Different than the top lock (Stover) nuts normally used but should be fine.

That's nothing like any pinion nut I've ever seen, personally I don't think I'd use it. Mine have always looked like the threaded part, which never had any gaps in it like yours do, was slightly deformed so it locked firmly into place on the pinion shaft.

Thats what I thought! aw man bummer, no auto parts stores carry this little guy and for some reason its been a nightmare trying to get one online in a timely manner. Oh well, ill wait until I get a proper looking one soon. Thank you!

I haven't seen that style since I was tinkering with old jeeps..they used pinion nuts that looked like that. I wouldn't use it but it probably wouldn't hurt anything
