Need a Trektop NX hack

Get the ”F” outa here! Is that what those are for? So you just hang them outside the slots in the surrounds before you clip in the tabs? And then use them like a release ribbon in a battery box to pop the tabs out? That’s F’ng Genius. I thought they were just some kind of wear patch.

I vote to make this a Sticky somewhere…

The piece fabric gets tucked in the door surround channel with the flaps. Then just pull to the fabric and the flaps will come out the door surround channel. I figured it out by accident.
Before I figured it out I always stuck my finger to release the flaps.

First, let me say I hate my Trektop. Mostly because of how hard it is to get the rear window in.
Second, cool trick. Didn't know about the flap, but mine aren't that hard to get out.
I just push up on the upper flap and they roll out.
Third, can someone verify that the rear support bar is supposed to be curved (out or up).
Never noticed it before, and wanted to make sure mine wasn't bent.
Finally, I like the tip about removing the corner supports. Maybe that will help with the rear window.

I Fuckn hate my trektop rear window.it’s a pain in the ass. Reason why I never take it off.
My next soft top will the stock style soft top. Soft top with the frame is easy to go topless.

I use an Ice Skate Lace Tightener, it also helps with the zipper pulls.

In the dirt bike world that is a spring puller for the fatty pipe of a two-stroke-

Those are great for zippers but at some point you can damage the zipper with one , Or tear the fabric from the top.

Speaking of putting on tops I found If you don’t cinch everything down until you get the side windows in the back they are a lot easier to deal with- That’s really not a revelation but more of an admission that I’ve probably been doing it wrong

I had one of those and it was so blame tight and there was so much overlap at the window that when it left I didn’t wanna see it again

I really like mine.

It settles in over time and isn't such a pain from a tight fit standpoint.

I also loosen everything before putting on sides and back window, and I only start the zippers part way until I'm ready to button up. It makes it go together much easier and I've not struggled since I started doing it this way. And I use the corner supports.

The back window is definitely a pain. I find that if I unzip it all the way, I have to mostly unzip the side windows and release them from the door surrounds before the rear zipper will come close enough to get started. I just modified my use to where I never really run with sides only, and if I need rear cargo access I leave an inch or two of zipper still zipped and flip the window up on top.

My biggest issue with it though, is with an LJ how long the side windows are. When a factory LJ top or a TJ trektop, it was fairly easy to store them and bring them along in the Jeep. But trektop LJ windows are awkward to fit into any commercially available window storage system and they roll up longer than the Jeep is wide so I can't easily toss them in the back. The end result of that is just that I don't out as many miles on it with around town stuff, because I run without windows most of the summer and if there's rain in the forecast I just drive something else. When wheeling I guess it saves me from having to put the windows back in sub 50 temps. So I guess there's a silver lining.

I'm on the fence with whether I'd replace it with another one or get a factory style.

Yes.. the rear bar should have a curve in it.

I am on my third Trektop Nx and every on I have removed the stiffeners in the rear section of the side windows. Makes rolling the windows up for storage so much easier and also makes removing and installing the rear window a breeze. I do it all the time. There is a looseness to the rear sail panel but they don’t look like something is wrong, they don’t flap around and most important side and back windows are tight and wrinkle free.

In nice weather, when my uppers are off the half doors, I don’t engage the side plastic things, just the header latches. I use them in the winter mostly.
