It would sure be nice if someone made them. I need to color change mine.

I’m sure you know about plastic dye. As much as I hate the idea, dying was SOP in the auto industry many years ago. My C3 corvette is full of factory dyed plastic parts. It’s help of for 50 years, soo must be good.

But I’d prefer factory through colors plastic.

Yeah, others have had success painting them also.

Nooooo, not paint, but Dye! Huge difference. Paint sits on top and looks like crap the second you touch it. Sue actually penetrates a bit with color.

I had an old Datsun 280zx I made that mistake on! Luckily it was only a sample A pillar I was experimenting on

I wouldn't mind dying them, but I'd have to understand how and know what dye to use to get the dark slate gray color.

Color is the hard part, but the company that the Z folks and the Vette guys recommend is SEM. Getting a color match is the hard part, but the SEM brand may help you in your search

Found this video on SEM dye, looks more like spray paint to me. I have the SEM spray paint in the garage already.

SEM is a good product but doesn't offer an exact match for the dark slate Grey. Their Landau Black is pretty close but far from perfect. I couldn't find a rear dark slate Grey console so I attempted to paint an Agate console. By itself it looks great but when installed with the front console the color difference is obvious. It is probably close enough for the door panels if your not to picky. I currently have Agate door panels and you really don't notice the difference.

Doors just came in … super fast shipping and they look great. I somehow expected to be disappointed by thinner metal, poor construction but these look and feel just like the original.

If any Zonies know of a good paint guy, please share.

The door shells from Key Parts were available on eBay last year. I bought both sides but shamelessly have not done much with them. I can tell you if you are using stock hinge bolts with stock hinge plates the bolts will not be long enough.

That’s odd … the only determining factor is the sheet metal … should be door hinge, sheet metal then the floating plate with the threads on the back …

I might go polished stainless … don’t kill me … I had a few kentrol stainless goodies when I got the Jeep, I dig it. And need different bolts anyways.
