Arizona Rock Crawling Daily Driver

I need to look at the lights. I found one tool use for the 5.0 and that is the orbital sander as it fits without the need for the extension on the dust collector.

Took a bit but I figured out another one. If your significant other wants to borrow the Hackzall with a pruning blade to trim the rose bushes, it does that pretty well.

This is a slick mod! Do you put the brake in the aluminum for things to fit good, or is it to add strength to the skid?

You can't easily get the engine and trans high enough to get the 42RLE oil pan above the skid if it was flat all the way across. So, you compromise by having that area lower to get under the pan but raise the rest of it as much as possible. The benefit of a strength increase is just extra.

You are accurate. Mrs App uses the hackzall to cut up boxes and styrofoam to fit in our trash cans.

Does this also apply to the 32RH with 231 transfer case with a 1” motor mount lift ?

Yes, to an extent. The oil pan on the trans is always problematic. We started doing this type skid many years ago to get it under the AW-4 pan. Since then we have learned that similar is needed for the 42 and the 32 if it runs a deep pan.

That's no fun. I get it sometimes too, it's a definite day killer.
Have you tried the half-somersault or Epley maneuver? Those can help get the "rocks" back in place.

Only the Epley so far and that seems to help. My doctor buddy just told me to look up the Dix Hallpike maneuver and said that he’s had the most success with that. I’ll try the somersault too

That looks to be at least 3/8 plate so I am not sure it would really need it.

in lew of .not in addition to.
abandon the underside of the frame rail altogether and mount a narrower skid inboard. the angles would/could mount to the inner frame rail for skid mounting and structural support. the top would be open . no longer need nutserts, be less material to manufacture and a couple less lb's too.
