A lesson learned—keep it light and nimble!

Very nice as always @Irun. It looks like you didn’t need to space your hinge away from the tail gait with corner armor. Correct?

I did not need to move the hinges out. However, I do have the tailgate and lower valance armor. That will get installed over the winter.

Sounds like you made a good decision, doesn’t look like the Savvy ones you can backorder are being made anytime soon, they Just refunded me and saying they can’t get the housings made.

Both Savvy and MC appear to have 18 LEDs for the reverse lights and 16 for the taillights. Also, both have high quality aluminum housings and require relocation of the license plate. I really wanted the Savvy lights though, mainly because they also listed replacement lenses, and Savvy doesn't have a logo etched in the housings like MC. However, the MC version is extremely well made and roughly $50 cheaper, once you factor in discounts and shipping from Savvy. Bottom line, I liked them enough to order a second set for the LJ.

Mounted the license plate and now know where I'll put my tag lights.

Lately, time has been focused on family and chores around the house. Yesterday, some time was spent modifying the harness I made for the MC tail lights, to add a license plate light. I bought a pair of these, which just so happen to be the exact size and pitch for the factory license plate bracket bolt hole. I inserted a 3/8" grommet in the Savvy armor hole, fed the wire through the hole, then screwed the light in. Once the light was in I crimped connections onto the wire ends and connected the positive to the harness, then the ground wire to one of the bottom Savvy armor bolts. The job isn't as nice as I'd like, so I'll go back in and tweak it at some point.

How did you get such a perfect curve on your license plate around the corner radius? Is there a screw holding it tight?

On my previous TJ I tried to do that and I couldn't get the radius to match. It always flared back out a bit.

The trick is to bend it around the corner, remove it, then hand bend it a little further past what it should be. That way when you bolt it on it's acting like a slight spring. It's fastened in place with 2 holes drilled in the license plate that use the 2 bottom license plate bracket bolt holes.

You need a 4xE

You need a 4xE

That doesn't fit the theme of his thread though....

The 4xe has a curb weight ranging from 5,100 lbs to 5,222 lbs, depending on the trim level of choice, which compares to the Jeep Wrangler’s curb weight that ranges from 3,948 lbs to 4,449 lbs.

I was cussing at it while small bits of dirt fell in my face. That problem is gone! ;)

I laughed out loud this morning when I saw the front end pic of your jeep in my thread...compare this

I will say, in my defense, I took that picture IMMEDIATELY after returning home from a wheelin trip, and the front end is much cleaner now...but still not as clean as yours.

To be fair, this is a picture of the LJ. It never gets wheeled and is merely a pavement Princess Prince Person! ;)

Over the last several months I've learned that MT tires suck on the road. The ride and noise is absolutely horrible. This evening I installed the on-road tire set. I'm back on 31" tires and while the lift is a little much for that size, all is good again!
