For some reason I'm more motivated to work on the Jeep in the fall / winter than I am in the spring /summer. Probably because I'm more willing to give it some downtime when the top is on!

I've got a small list this year

* Downstream O2 sensors (just arrived yesterday, hopefully can avoid replacing cats for a while...)
* Rotate tires & spare (just did this morning)
* Replace or repaint door handles and rebuild inside mechanisms (they are spongy and don't always unlock easily...)
* Re-finish fender flares (SEM Satin Black)
* Replace driver side door seal (passenger was replaced last year and solved a TON of small drips inside)
* Research window trim for full doors (the felt lined part the window rides in)
* Maybe upgrade the stereo (factory unit takes about 10 minutes to turn on in the mornings, comes on, cuts out right away until it's warmed up)
* Finally get my rear bumper tie-ins installed so I can tow the quad without worry...(Never on the highway the way it is now, only through town 35mph to the dirt roads)

What do you have planned?

I also want to repaint my door handles and other small trims on the exterior of my jeep. The biggest thing I need to do though before winter is clean and prep my frame with eastwood on the inside.

Rancho shocks 5000’s. Tuffy center console. Tuffy side boxes. Oil change in 1000 miles. Grease all the joints at this time. Rotate the tires. And the list goes on and on……….

Might be a light winter for me this year.

1. Drop gas tank to replace sender, might as well raise my tank skid while it's off
2. install front LCA mini skids, might as well raise my sway link mounts and do a tie rod flip.
3. Possibly install a hub kit.

This is the long list of parts I have piled up awaiting installation on my LJ:

Revolution Gear 4.88 Gears with REM Finishing
Barnett Dana 44 Differential Covers
LUX MAX Rock Lights
Custom 7-rocker Switch Panel Above Rearview Mirror
Custom Rocker Switch Panel in Center Dash
Savvy Body and Engine Lifts
Savvy T-case Cable Kit
Hutchinson Rock Monster 15x8 Bead Lock Wheels
RockJock Front Track Bar
RockJock CurrectLync Steering Kit w/ BMB 4340 Tie-rod
Genright Lifted Body Mounts with Rear Lower Rubber Mounts
Cutting and Raising Rear of Frame to Match Body Lift
RockJock Bump Stops
New Dana/Spicer Ball Joints
Artec Racing Quart Crate for Spare Fluids Organization
Currie Mini-skids
Fumoto USA Quick-drain Oil Valve
Air Tank and Coalescing Filter for York OBA System
Poly Performance Shock Towers for Front and Rear Shocks
Fox 2.0 Shocks with DSC Reservoirs (11" front/12" rear)
BMB Shock Reservoir Mounts
Savvy Mid-Arm Lift w/ 4” Lift RockJock Springs
Savvy Gas Tank Skid and Steering Box Skid
Savvy Engine and Transmission Skid
Custom Crossmember and Skid
RCV Front Axles

I still need to purchase these:

35" BFG KM3 Tires
Steering Damper (brand T.B.D.)
New Tom Wood Driveshafts

I had hoped to have started this work by now, but I decided to replace the 5.4L engine in my elderly Ford Expedition first so that I have a backup vehicle. I'm elbows-deep in that project right now. Hopefully, I'll start the LJ stuff by Thanksgiving, and I definitely want to be done by early spring next year!

Would that be the 3 valve 5.4?

Good Lord, no. It’s a 2 valve (2001 model). I think the 3 valve with variable timing was later (2003 or 2004). The big problem with the 2 valve is not enough “meat” for the spark plugs. What killed the engine was that, during a hunting trip a few years ago, I had one plug blow out the head in Raton, NM, and a second one in Colo Spgs, even though a few years prior I had installed steel inserts that were supposed to prevent that from happening.

I was able to limp it to my buddy’s house in Golden, CO (not a fun trip), but we were headed north to chase wapiti, so I paid somebody to put an engine in it. What a complete disaster that was. I should have just paid to ship it home, caught a plane, and done the work myself. It’s had problem after problem since then (the lifetime warranty I was promised wasn’t worth the paper it was printed on), so I decided to buy a FoMoCo remanned long block and do it myself.

Asked about the 3valve because of my experience with it. Bought a new 2004 f150 with that engine. Lasted 110000 miles. Had a ford authorized rebuilt installed. That one lasted 110000 miles. Got rid of it after that although I owned it 17 years.swore I wouldn’t buy another ford but now driving an ecoboost😂

Get the Atlas 4 speed t-case tucked up into the cab floor a bit so I can get an ultra clearance UCF skid to mount up. That and paint the new passenger side full door along with the half doors and old driver full door.

my 2016 ecoboost is one tuff little engine. only 62,000 miles but, it’s run flawlessly.

- I have a UCF extra clearance transfer case skid that’s been hanging on my shop wall for months just waiting to be installed.

-Maybe some cheap Amazon rock lights that’s been sitting in the shelf since spring.

There a 50/50 chance I’ll get neither done. 🤣
