Arizona Rock Crawling Daily Driver

I can’t believe what a good daily driver mod tuned shocks are. I can’t state it enough. This rig has no bad habits anymore. It steers easily and perfectly, and the ride is so comfortable it does not feel like an off road vehicle anymore. It feels like floating down the street. It’s hard to explain but the more seat time I get on various streets that used to be jarring the better of a picture I get on just what a substantial impact an outboard makes. Its not just the cushy feeling but also the level of control and stability it has. I feel like I don’t have to work to drive it anymore. It’s important to note that even guys with short arms who outboard with a good tune feel this same way. Has nothing to do with the midarm.

You're experiencing the importance of shocks and how they can transform a vehicle. This is the point where you start building the Jeep around making the shocks work properly.

So this was just the warmup trail on Friday. But we didn’t get to do the real trails because all of the other rigs were having problems so my little TJ got to tow these heavy ass rigs back to their trailers all day after this.

Heater core started leaking. It doesn’t do me much good anyways since I have my top off until summer. It’s typically only used as a foot heater but I’ll try a while without it and see if I miss it. Need to recover from the suspension stuff before I spend big money again.
This project is self explanatory with a picture so I won’t go into it much. Here’s the parts I used. Just made a loop.

Took the Jeep up to 80mph today for the first time since the swap and all is great. Zero vibrations or wobbles, stays straight, no noise at all from my used gear setup.

How is the handling at higher speeds?

It’s perfect. Handles like a luxury SUV. I swear it requires less steering input than before and I wonder if it’s because the rear axle is calmer now, but I am not sure.

After the shock tune, I noticed that everything felt tighter and more controlled. Same with the SwayLoc.

A swayloc is definitely moving up on the list, though I would really like some nice suspension seats. It sounds nice to be hugged a little more while off camber and cornering hard. My stock seats are pretty worn out as well.

You'll need less hugging when your rig doesn't lean as much in turns ;)

I go back and forth on seats. I have ridden in a TJ with high bolstering. It was nice while sitting. But for as often as we were jumping in and out of the Jeep to do stuff, they became annoying.

Don’t get the stupidly high bolstering
