I think I've finally found some vehicles that are worse than the modified JK / JL crowd.

This would be Polaris RZR owners. They aren't all this way (I own one myself and it looks nothing like this), but every so often you run into one of these things that just looks stupid beyond words.

Having said that, I present you with these monstrosities:

I wonder - how much money to make that happen? 40, 50K? I've never been on one, but those on pizza cutters looks fun!

A 6" Portal lift is about $4000, plus probably another $4000 for the a-arms, plus wheels, tires, etc. I'd say at least 10-15k.

They're fun in stock form. Not so much for rock crawling but blasting through the desert and the suspension just soaking up everything.

Good grief. I’ve seen a few around my area that are pretty ridiculous looking.

We have a bunch of them around here. I remember being on a trail once and we were waiting for a group of these things to get thru an obstacle. One guy had a turbo on his SXS with his music blaring, and he wasn't doing anything other than letting that stupid thing build boost just so his blow off valve would make noise.

Yep, they all want to make sure you get to hear their crappy music with their big speakers. The blow off valves are another stupid noise making device. I can see why some places want to ban these things.

Looks like a clear case of more dollars than sense.
But I really don't care what someone else does.

I know it's the weekend when the dude down the street is out checking all his flashing LED whips and the rest of his colored lights. Music blasting something awful. I gotta remember to get a pic to post up here.

Those things are all over here in Arizona. I always know the guys to stay away from because they have the obnoxious lighted whips and all the undercarriage lighting. Usually those guys are the ones who like to do the stupid stuff and have the loud stereos so that we can all hear their terrible music 🤦🏻

I built my RZR to suit me for what I like to do, all of the mods have been for safety or improvements on the known weak components. It is a very capable rock crawler or trail machine here in the mid south, the best improvements have been to have the shocks reworked by G Force Racing, RCV axles and 35'' sticky Rockzilla tires. It will embarrass some very capable rock crawlers but you gotta have the stones to ride it!

The thing I hate most about sxs is how hideously noisy they are to ride in. It's worse than a jeep because there's no firewall between me and the engine, it's worse than a motorcycle or an ATV because what bodywork there is just transmits it back at me. Fun to drive, sure, but I'll pass until the designs acknowledge that NVH is a thing that exists.

I was never a fan of them. They seem to be that weird in-between type of vehicle. Fun for blasting through the desert, but pretty spartan compared to even a Jeep. Not as nimble as an ATV or dirtbike on trails. Personally I'd rather just have my Jeep or an ATV.

It's the variable speed sled transmission that's the problem. They don't take slow well or the belt drive cvt slips. It's a snow machine on wheels.

For sand, run fast, go, they are fun.
Use them for what they aren't designed for and spend money fixing them as you prematurely wear them out.
