The Ugly Duck (becoming the Bad Duck)

Should I replace my oil pump drive during engine overhaul? 2002 and 205k miles but do they wear or have issues like the later models? What about the cam sensor on top of it?

dunno about the OPDA but if the cam sensor was working I'd swap it seeing as how finicky non-OE and even OE aftermarket sensors can be

Wait, I’m confused. My cam sensor was working fine, your saying replace it though?

swap your original cam sensor to your new engine whether or not you get a new OPDA

edit: other members who have replaced the OPDA with an aftermarket unit have had to reuse the original sensor because the aftermarket sensors are known to not work very well if at all

Just check the OPDA for play. Keep the factory cam sensor. I replaced mine @195K with a Standard Ignition unit because the shaft had a bunch of slop, 4 months later the cam sensor that came with it shit the bed. Glad I kept the factory one. I put the factory cam sensor back on and no problems since.

I presume you mean endplay on the oil pump drive? Any idea what’s acceptable or not? It’s got 205k on it. I’m thinking replace it but keep the cam sensor, following the advise previously.

So this happened today…

It’s getting real. Curious on other’s opinion on the blue (which wasn’t by design, just a good hose kit, color was incidental).

The blue is a bit much, but kinda cool too. I'd ditch the worm clamps for some good tension clamps.

Goes well with the battery and the masking tape you have covering the throttle body!! :ROFLMAO:

I can't say that it looks bad.. Definitely stands out. Any plans to maybe incorporate more color under the hood maybe?
