Reinstalling Axles

Good morning,

I just replaced the u joints on my LJR and had some troubling getting the passenger axle in. I had read that there's a plastic part from the factory that can be removed, so I used a coat hanger and was able to grab it.

Before I button everything I just want to make sure I don't need this guy.

That's just a guide the factory inserted to make it easier for the assembly line to insert the axle shafts. Just tip the axle shaft up with it resting on the outer edge opening so you can slide the axle shaft in through the inner seal at the differential end of the axle tube. Be careful not to push hard if it isn't pushing through the seal's shaft hole or you could push the seal out of position.
