NP231 doubler / crawlbox

He said he would not fix it unless his supplier was able to.
His problem is with his supplier. You bought a part from him that was incorrect. That makes it his problem to fix. For him to say anything but sorry and get another part sent out is the wrong way to take care of a customer.

it's whole again time to think about the next steps soon. i put the 1310 yoke back on the front output until i make up my mind.
input retainer is temp'd just to hold the bearing, i assume it'll be removed anyway during the next step.

so thinkin about this a bit more i'm gonna slap that 1350CV yoke over to the front output and pick up a 1350 dual pattern flange for the rear, that'll give me the option of a pinion brake, if i choose later.

i got that rear output flange and i'm makin up a rotor to fit the backside of it to make up for lack of E brakes in the hat. still needs turned to be finished up but i wanted a test fitting. don't mind my cockeyed paint job. that'll get turned round when its surfaced. not meant to be an emergency brake really, just a parking brake. now to find a mechanical caliper and make a bracket.

Wow... just came back after several months and this thread has more than doubled! Great work on your 205s, @someguysjeep !

I see that Midnight has had to raise prices (like everyone these days) and for a moment I thought NorthwestFab was completely gone, but according to their FB page their website is just down at the moment.

I'm personally probably not going to pursue a doubler - it's more than I need or have time for - but it sure has been fun learning about this stuff with you guys. I'm going to regear my axles and then decide what else I want to do for playing around on the rocks. I did get a hand throttle control to help some of the situations we talked about earlier. For now, I just need to finish installing my lift and get back on the trails.

My axles are regeared but I did find the 2.72 low was still too high with the 31" tyres. Now on 35" tyres, it will be still to much higher. 🙃

$2500 for a set of 3-1 gears for a 205 is dumb.

For your application yes. But I'm sure there is someone out there who could argue that with you for their setup. But it is a HUGE amount to try and justify.
I wonder why they are so expensive?

So the output options with this box are 2Hi, 2Lo (3:1) (Front OR Rear), 4Hi, and 4Lo (3:1)?

but it's also shorter than a 231 so there's room for a doubler, if you need one.

I think having a 2:1 case plus a 2.72:1 doubler would be the bees knees.

JB Conversions 3:1 gears are $1999.

MMW 205 case- $1899
JB Conver 3:1 - $1999
MMW UD - $1099
———————
$4997
And you still need to source a NP205 for parts & a NP231 for parts

But when you add up what a 4 speed Atlas is this isn't totally off base. And you now have a t-case that will clear you automatic transmission easier as apposed to the D300. My STaK's 3 speed t-case cost $2899 when I bought it in 2006 and the new Hero 3 speed t-case is $4999.
