One more hardtop question

The hardtop I’ve bought didn’t come with the back glass hatch. I was about to put on he back glass on when I noticed that it didn’t have the struts that hold the glass open. After further investigation I couldn’t seem to find a latch for the glass either. I have ordered the struts and they will come in a few days.

Will the back glass bounce open and shut without these struts?
Is there a latch for the glass?
 
I haven't had my HT on in quite awhile, but IIRC the tailgate shuts over the lower lip of the glass, so when you're driving it should stay put.

That being said, I did replace the struts with generic units from Autozone and I don't remember them being particularly expensive, less than $20 each.
